Breaking: Pandev not anymore a Lazio player

Lazio striker Goran Pandev has rescinded his contract with the club with immediate effect, and he is now able to join another team after the Lega Calcio's contract dispute resolution chamber ruled in favour of the Macedonian on Wednesday afternoon.

The lawyer acting on behlaf of Pandev has confirmed the decision.

"Our application has been accepted and Pandev has rescinded his contract," Grassani told Sky Sport Italia shortly after the decision.

"Lazio have been ordered to pay the player €160,000 in compensation as well as legal costs.

"We received a fax from the Lega and it has confirmed the rescission with immediate effect.

"Pandev can now negotiate with any club he likes, but that will be dealt with the agents. In anycase, he is no longer tied to Lazio."

Reports have claimed a number of clubs including Inter and Juventus are after the player.

Lazio have not issued a statement on the outcome of the case just yet.

And another news from Goal.com suggests that Pandev is pondering a move to Rioma.

Ridiculous Lotito.... He should reflect on his conduct. He is not suitable as a Lazio president.

Sad that this happens to a good Lazio player.

He could have been really useful to us this season.

Pandev to Roma? I doubt it. He'll risk hell in Rome. If he lives in Rome i doubt he'll be stupid enough to do this.

Let's hope Lottito learns from this and not treat people like this again. He's basically paying for his stubborness and pride. We could have even cashed in on Pandev.

Wow, so...basically...when it's all said and done...we OWE Pandev and made NEGATIVE money on him. Hahaha, Lotito is a moron! "No less than 19million euro for Pandev when we still COULD HAVE received a handsome sum.

Macedonia striker Pandev will be available on a free transfer in January

Pandev has been trying to terminate his stay with the Biancocelesti since the summer and has not played for the club all season. The decision by the Lega Calcio's contract dispute resolution chamber means the FYR Macedonia frontman can leave on a free transfer in January.

Reports suggest a return to Inter Milan is the most likely prospect for Pandev, although Juventus and Tottenham are also said to be interested.

Pandev was under contract with the Nerazzurri for three years but was shipped out on loan twice and never played a game for the Italian giants. Speculation is also rife that the 26-year-old could further anger Lazio fans by moving to bitter city rivals Roma.

Pandev has been at Lazio since 2004 and quickly became a firm fans' favourite at the Stadio Olimpico. However, matters turned sour last summer when Lazio revealed that they would not accept a bid of less than 19 million euros for Pandev after he filed a transfer request.

The Macedonian was branded a "rebel" by club president Claudio Lotito and frozen out of the squad, as well as being forced to train separately from his former team-mates.

I watched to interview and I have to say that I felt really, really bad about all this. I really like Goran and I'm a big fan of him and I will always keep him in my heart and will cheer for him wherever he plays. He is a great player and from the clip you can see he is a great person. I'm really sorry that Lazio won't have anymore a player which I feel like a brother (because Macedonia and Bulgaria are like brother nations even though some people don't like that ..).

Why doesn't this surprise me - Lotito after the verdict speaking on Radio Radio (great choice of name BTW tongue

) :

“I am calm in any case, all I can say is that this doesn't end here. I will not give up, this is in no way over then we'll see who wins."

Radio Radio believes Lotito will now pursue Pandev through Italy's civil justice system. In the meantime he will appeal to the Italian FA to waive the Lega Calcio's decision so he can do just that.

He can't let it lie until he crushes Pandev and gets his own way to save face and prove he is in the right. Face it Lotito, you completely screwed up the sale of a prize asset and treated him like you'd treat a naughty child. Ledesma will be next...
