Mi ispiro a Peruzzi, Canizares, Buffon e Julio Cesar».
Buffon, Canizares e Julio Cesar».
WELCOME JUAN PABLO FORZA LAZIO!!

| After it’s finally official I am going to say couple of words about him.
I have followed many of his appearances this year with River Plates jersey. This is great goalkeeper, without single doubt I can assure you! Now it is only up to him to become a real world star, which I personally believe it would happen.
Welcome Carrizo, you are my biggest hope for the resurrection of our Lazio. Can’t wait to see the pictures of him in biancocelsti kit.

| And I just read Sgt.Pepper's post in the transfer&rumour thread about JPC. - Quote :
- "I am proud to finally be able to wear Lazio´s jersey and I would like to thank all the fans, who have awaited me for a year." these are the first words from the goalkeeper, who at his arrival wore a black t-shirt and black pants.
I'm not sure I like these connotations, and why was it necessary to mention this detail anyway ---------- actually, what do I care. Welcome again and make us proud.

| This interview has been translated Live from Piazza della Liberta' to Laziofever.org. I believe that deserve to be posted here: Date, 7th July, 2008 Direct : The presentation of Carrizo
Laziofever´s friends and our former home, Piazza della Libertá, had the chance to be present at the press conference presenting the new goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo.President Lotito introduces, with a bit of controversy, the presentation of the goalkeeper. "This morning Carrizo was picked up in the airport by Manzini and he has not released any interviews. I have to say with regret, that some people think they are clever, but they are not". It seems as if the Presidents phrase was intended to deny a tv interview (which many journalists had tried to get already in the airport). The preliminary introduction then proceeded like this: "Carrizo is now here to reveal why he has chosen Lazio. I don´t want to say much more, because today is his moment". A moment of silence, then Lotito carries on and underlines: "We have gotten an argentine intepreter and she is also a Lazio fan, this in order to avoid that what the player is saying could be misinterpreted" In reality though, the biggest difficulty was to try and understand what the intepreter was saying. It´s finally Carrizo´s moment and he started off like this: "I would like to thank all those who have waited for me to be here. Thanks to The President for bringing me to Lazio. Now I want to do my best. I am so happy"
Then began the questions from the journalists:
Would you like to say something in Italian for a start ? "I would like to thank all the fans who have waited so long". Then he adds in Spanish: "I am happy and proud to be part of this team and I hope to live up to the great goalkeepers of the past"
What do you know of Peruzzi? "An important champion, who has won a lot. It´s an honour to be approached by him"
Then he talks about Boca-River "When I was a child, I dreamt about playing the derby Boca-River. Now I´m here and I want to win the derby against Roma"
A question about his habbit of dribbling the attackers "It´s not my speciality in any way, but I do it because it makes me different from the other goalkeepers"
Has Simeone told you anything about Lazio? "He has told me about the Derby. And he told me it is a beautiful city and that I for sure would feel well here"
Are you happy that you have many compatriots in the team ?? "Very happy. It will be easier in the beginning"
Why have you chosen la Lazio? "I have always liked them, there have been a lot of important Argentine players"
By who are you inspired? Do you have a goalkeeper that you look up to? "I don´t have a role model in particular. I try to learn from everyone. But I do like Julio Cesar and Buffon"
Do you know the coach and the way Lazio are playing? "I like the scheme, now it´s up to me to adapt to the way of playing"
Have you saved many penalties? is that one of your skills? "Luck, I would say more than anything, it´s luck"
Is there an Argentine player from Lazio´s past, with whom you are especially connected? "Veròn and Simeone. Especially Veròn, because I have shared the emotions of playing in the National Team with him"
In some situations, we have seen you go forward when there is a corner "It´s a choice I make in some situations, when there is little time left and we need to score a goal"
How much have you been disappointed from last years waiting? I had come to Italy in order to remain here, but I had to go back to Argentina, in spite of Lazio doing everything they could in order to keep me here. The passport just wasn´t ready. Their interest remained the same though. I went back to River, which is my home and I had the luck to win the championship and to dream about my challenge with Lazio"
Do you think Lazio can help you to become a regular in the National team? "I must train with commitment and then find the right continuity, then for sure the coach of Argentina will appreciate that"
Which of the forwards are the most dangerous in Italy? "I don´t remember the names, but surely I have to train a lot to be on the same level as the Italian forwards"
How is Zaratè? "He is fast. Very fast. I hope at Lazio he will bring out his very best"
How have you lived this year? "I have felt bad, but I have played with River, knowing that Lazio was always interested in me"
What are your objectives? "I don´t have any personal objectives, the team always comes before anything. We have to be united"
Do you remember any games of Lazio from last season? Did you see the derby? "Yes, Roma were strong and the fact that Lazio were still able to stop them was a great pleasure to me"
Do you have anything to say about Fernandèz, your teammate from River. Who is he similar to? "Camoranesi. A player able to play on the side with great technics. We are waiting for his passport, then I hope he will arrive too"
Are you ready for the derby Argentina-Brazil now that you are in Rome? "Of course, it´s an added pleasure, there is also a jersey to defend and everyone wants to do their maximum for the squad."
Is there a player from Lazio that you have seen in TV and you have waited to get to know? "Mutarelli, Rocchi, Zauri"
Last year Lazio were waiting for you to play in the Champions League. Can you head for the 4th spot this year? "I have not had the posibillity to play with Lazio in the Champions League, but I hope to qualify this year and play in the Cup"
How difficult is it to take Peruzzi´s spot? "Very, he is a great player and I will do everything to be at his level"
Which are your primary characteristics? "I´m considered strong physically, good agility and great with the feet"
Which are the teams that you are most afraid of? Do you know the Italian championship? "It´s a difficult and competitive championship, so for me it´s a great opportunity. But it´s long and therefore I don´t want to dream about objectives that right now are far away"
Who will you get help from in the beginning? "Probably Ledesma. He has the right personal appeal and will be able to explain me about the club and the city"Source : www.piazzadellaliberta.itText and translation : Sgt. Pepper - LF-Team

| Grazie, nice interview! If someone has missed it, there was a good one with him in April at FIFA.com - http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/newsid=750126.html Argentina and Lazio has been the perfect match and the signs are that Carrizo has everything to be a Peruzzi-esque legend. Hopefully he'll wear our shirt for years to come, you couldn't help but like him even if he hasn't played a single minute! Might be the best coup Lotito has ever made. My biggest fears the weight of huge expectations on him and that we might get a mega bid from some rich bastard club in a year or two and Carrizo might be too tempted. But I guess the mark of a great player is handling pressure. The other problem remains however as long as we are not challenging for titles. Fingers crossed. WELCOME JUAN PABLO! | |
