| During the last week, Lazio have been linked to this player as a replacement for Valon Behrami who left the club through article 17.
He is 24 years old, a Swiss National team player and participated in the Euro together with Behrami. He could be used both as a right back (vice De Silvestri) but also on the right sided midfield if necessary...
Price - around 2 million Euro

| Good, solid player, from the no-nonsense school of defending.
For 2 million euros, I say we take him now. He is a competent RB, a decent RM option too, would fit well with our system/s, I can't see a problem.
In my honest opinion, he is almost as good as Behrami. Behrami will always be a good player, but he will never be world class. Neither will this guy, but trust me, he can be relied on.

good point. I'd imagine that he has german ancestry, just from his name alone, but I really don't know.

I'd imagine that he has german ancestry, just from his name alone, but I really don't know. We cannot gather any info from his name as Switzerland consists of several cantons in which ppl speak different languages, they have 4 languages in official use and those are German,French,Italian and Retoroman depending on the adjacent country. So while ppl in i.e. Zurich speak German others in i.e. Geneve speak French. I looked around and I did not find any info regarding a possible dual citizenship.

| In the summer of 1999, the European Union and Switzerland signed seven bilateral agreements including the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons, which came into force on 1 June 2002.
This mean that Switzerland workers such as football players are free to move/work in any EU country and their status will be the same as EU workers.

| Thank you for the clarification.
off topic,it pays to be Swiss, that is probably why they have so many conditions and requirements for citizenship applicants

| We've just signed the guy. He is a very useful addition to the squad for (at least) these reasons: - Behrami is leaving us, and we have only De Silvestri as right wing - He is a Swiss national squad member - He was linked with a move to Real Madrid, so he must have some talent - He is 23, so he fits perfectly in our scheme to sign new young talents - His price is very good (1.5 mil), his salary is reasonable (500K/year) - In a few years we will sell him with 4-5 times the current value .... | |

| I think this is a done deal now.
Littles less than 2 mil Euros to Lille and 500.000 euros to the player in a three/four year deal.

| I was little skeptic, about him, because I don't think he can replace Behra properly. I like and I was hoping for Fernandez, but as soon as this is the present from Sabatini there is no other way, I must accept it. Good luck to the boy | |

| He's young, but he's solid. Lille is not the best French team, but they're solid in Ligue 1. Not just that, but he's had some valuable playing experience. He played in the CL, he also played in the Euro this summer, so I say...he'll fit in fine!
WELCOME!!!! | |

| Welcome to Lazio, i hope you are a better and more respectful character than your colleague from the national team. I really believe that you will fit in well and be a good alternative for De Silvestri and in the midfield.
Wear the best shirt in the world with pride.

| To be honest, I prefer him to Fernandez. Fernandez needs time to adjust in a league completely different than the argentinian one + to a life (style) quite different...I mean is alsways 50-50...some guys adapt and become stars (Simeone, Crespo, Veron...) but some just don't adapt and fall into mediocrity (Castroman, Sorin...)... Lichtsteiner can adapt faster and enter the game... | |
