| I don't like the look of their wingers... very pacey and causing all sorts of problems. Lucho Gonzalez is showing Ledesma how to run the midfield... | |

| It appears that this one is not going as planned.
2 goals so early in the match is no good.

| We are loosing the battle in the middle. We barely played with the ball, not enough passes , too little possession , impatience in every respect. We looked tired as well. | |

| Not the greatest performance in the world by us, but I think this was the game where Delio decided to see what he has at his disposal...just as Claudio said we would do before we make any more signings.
The decision to put Lichtsteiner at LB and Diakite at RB in the second half suggests to me he was testing our defensive cover...and I think we just about passed the test, although it's clear that Tuia cannot yet step up, but then we shouldn't expect him to.
I think Delio was also testing the midfield and I think in this respect we failed. I could see Claudio bringing in one or two faces yet.
For me, the forward line has proved very little as yet. I know we have enough strikers, but I wouldn't complain if Delio decides to bring in some young gun because Makinwa and Zarate are not convincing yet, but I have faith in both, especially the latter and Rocchi will return fit, healthy and raring to go I hope.
I think after our next friendly, we will be linked to a lot more players in the media. I really believe this was the game where Delio decided to see what he had available to him. Now I'm intrigued to know what he thought of his team.

| I find it really strange that most European teams are excited in pre-season matches and actually play football like they were all amateurs(in the sense of their enjoyment not level wise), while mostly Italian teams are slow and tired even before it begins and we were not that different, this is beyond me. I mean they are mentally better... | |

| We were downright awful! Then again we played an intensive match against Liverpool just 2 days ago.
The only ones who were ok were Lichsteiner, Rozy and Pandev, maybe Foggia (although he lost too many balls). All others performed below par except for maybe Zarate but he hasn't found his position yet and hasn't clicked with his teammates and plays a little too much for himself. I'm afraid Delio is going to waste this player by playing him out of position, I'm afraid he doesn't know anything about his abilities and has never watched a single game where Zarate has featured. Zarate is a striker, not a winger! Our midfield was non existant in feeding the strikers or constructing anything. Makinwa has no idea of what he is doing out there, doesn't ever lose his marker, runs into players instead of looking for free space. Always positioned wrong. Works hard but he doesn't have a feel for positioning. Mendicino shows more in just 10 minutes. Radu disappointed me in this game which is unusual. Diakite as RB, what's going on?
I am really starting to worry about what goes on in Delio's mind. I am growing increasingly critical of his decisions and tactics. We have the squad to fight for a 4th spot. But I'm afraid we'll be struggling much like last season and end up placing 8th-10th position.

We still are making blunders in defense, but I don't reckon this was the problem so far... Our midfield is very unorganized , we didn't posses the ball enough and we are very impatient. We need creativity there, I don't want to rely on Pandev to be our most creative player.... Someone should hold the ball there.

I have to say, it looked like Delio decided in the second half that he was going to try out some very unusual things, but you draw on an important point. Come the start of the season, will Delio know who to play and where to play them? He is being too experimental this pre-season and yet not experimental enough. We have yet to play a match where Delio has played his best side or even a game where all the youngsters are given a shot. If he doesn't play Zarate together with Pandev all the time, for example, then how are they meant to gel?

| I am not a big fan of Rossi decisions and ambitions, but as Mad Dog said before this Lazio side can compete for the 4th spot esp. Viola will play in 3 competitons and Rioma is strugling too, I could add to them Milan because you dont know how much their aging defense, injuries up front, and goal keeper problems would affect their campign, too.
The only headache Rossi should have is that we miss Rocchi up front only as Lich is doing great on De Silvestri spot. But seeing Makinwa and Mauri a head of Zarate and Foggia is really annoying to me at least based on their performances in the friendlies.
We didn't sign Makinwa and Mauri this summer to be fielded a head of Zarate and Foggia!! My point is that Rossi is not giving enough time to Zarate in the friendlies, will it be in officials games, I really doubt.

| I can see why we're sticking by Makinwa, firstly, he started pre-season well and secondly, he did well at Atalanta...very well indeed and he's definitely an asset to the club if he rediscovers that form. I just always feel that he'll struggle against pacy sides but I'm sure this is why Delio opted for him to start. | |

I disagree here! How many goals did he scored in friendlies! Not more than Zarate btw. We didn't sign Zarate only as a sub, Just remember the heavy media when we got Zarate weeks ago. Makinwa is a fast player in the counter attacks but so sluggish in finishing, go back to his serie A records in the past 3 years and see how many goals and assists he did. Rediscover form! He did a good job in Atalanta only 3 years ago, he is not Ronaldo that got injured and each football fan in the planet is waiting for his glimpse.
