Serie A: ATALANTA-LAZIO, Sunday, 30-11-08

This is tough.

Atalanta have a good side with a lot of quality. Like us, their form has dipped lately and both sides will be going all out fora win I expect.

This is the beginning of a tough run of games. One could say that began with the derby but I think it truly kicks off here.

Tough game, hostile environment, our fans banned because of the fight at the derby.

A very tough run indeed Caxi, plus the coppa against Milan, we should really start utilizing bench players like De Silvestri, Inzaghi, Dabo, Cribari and Matuzalem when he recovers. We have depth this season, so at least fatigue shouldn't pose a problem.

The commentator yesterday said that the only 3 players that played all the games so far were Zarate, Lichtsteiner and Carizzo. I didn't have time to check but it seems right.

After genova I really want a win now. Aou lads are crushed, we play each match without some effectiveness. Reggina beat Atalanta this weekend so I'll want nothing more. Let's show up to everyone that we are made for CL and we earn that sopt. If not then somethings have to change.

If we're not careful, this match could be a disaster. I believe we have to come out - guns blazing. ATL are a good squad and playing on the road is always difficult for us. In order to keep hanging around the the CL area, we need wins. The Derby loss hurt, but the draw with Genoa, barely kept us where we're at in the standings and most of that is because the other teams stumbled too. We need to get our attack in gear. I keep saying I trust Rossi...so I'll say it again...Rossi, I trust that you'll put the best formation out on the pitch - just make sure we attack, because I know ATL will.

Have no idea what to expect from this one!!

Maybe a lucky win ? Or just a usual draw with us catching the result ? Hmmm.

I have began to be cynical.

maybe we should try and use the speed of our players and counterattack? atalanta have some good players and it will be hard.

Lets make this a great game to bounce back on to track since Genoa game.
Would like to se Rocchi start with Zarate and Mauri,Meghni,Matuzalem and Dabo on mid if Matuzalem can play? Even if he can I belive he will not get the opurtunity to start:/

Very hard game. We need to play at our very best to get 3 points.

I'm nervous like the rest of you lot, but when it boils down to it...we ARE the better team. I understand that the environment you play in can contribute to mistakes, but at the same time, there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to get some points out of this match. We have 3 awesome strikers a fine midfield when they choose to play and our defense, while not the best, is far from poor. I believe we're solid all the way around - not solid like an Inter on paper, but good enough to be where we are, so lets F'ing play like it!!! No more dropping points to mid level / bottom dwelling teams!

I don't think this is anything major. IT's probably a thigh strain, which is common after receiving a knock in the leg. Regardless, if he's still sore, Rossi should go ahead and start Rocchi and Pandev. Zarate can always come in if he's not 100% should Rocchi or Pandev tire. I have a feeling he'll be jussssst fine though.

Sorry to ask you but.. how can Rocchi, Pandev, Zarate, Inzaghi or Makinwa perform when we don`t have a midfield to provide balls for our strikers ? We expect too much from this guys..especialy from Tommaso, Goran and Maurito. They can`t performe at all as long as Rossi is our coach..or as long as he doesent change his point of view. A team should have a solid midfield..a striker, no matter how good he is..can`t do anything alone. On the other hand, last season Rocchi and Pandev were amazing. I think we don`t realise what incredible those guys were..playing almost alone all season and scored so many goals. Now we bash Rocchi for his words regarding the great coach Delio Rossi. So..i really can`t blame our strikers for they lack of performance since we don`t have a midfield (and it`s not because we don`t have good players..but how they are in the field is wrong).

I agree that we have a link up problem with the midfield and attack...that is obvious.

But we have the most goals of any team in Serie A, so to say we shouldn't expect our forwards to perform is a joke. Evidence suggests it is the best area of our team and with 22 goals in Serie A this season, clearly someone up there is banging them in!

It is up to Rossi to select the correct personnel and get the balance right. To say our forwards can't perform under Rossi is ludicrous. If your statement is valid then no team in Serie A has strikers performing under their respective coaches. That is not the case.

I think if Ledesma had a freer role, he'd be able to fix that. Defensively we aren't that great though as we all know and Ledesma has a lot of covering to do, so he doesn't make full use of his creative ability, and that makes him look smelling as in the matches.

I hope Delio can bring Ledesma's full creative ability out soon cause he's a good player being wasted.

I agree. I think Ledesma has had no option but to cover the defence. To be honest, I feel he has done that job well.

And now it looks like Pandev is gonna miss the match due to an injury he picked up this afternoon.

Then we'll definitely see Rocchi and Zarate up front! Nice to see them get the chance from the start together.
Pandev can recover and find his form to the Inter game! :)
