ok, a quick report, it was my 9th? 10th time in Rome (I'm getting old, must be Alzheimer), and did a quick tour in town in around 4 hours for the new guys , starting from Termini > Vaticano > Castelo Sant'Angelo > Piazza Navona > Pantheon > Trevi > Spagna > Via dei Condotti (good laughs at 11.000€ priced handbaggs) > Piazza Popolo > Piazza Della Libertà (my 1st time
) > metro > Colloseo > Forum > Piazza Venezia > Termini
it was very nice in Rome yesterday, seemed like spring was coming up, so we had to satisfy our primary urges
bad news was the speed of drinking, combined with the 5€ a beer price
then it was time to gear up and get to Olimpico on time, get some drinks, snacks and some Lazio gear
and enter Distinti Nord 1 hour before kick-off
Olimpico came alive when JPC was the 1st one to warm up
and then the rest followed
the Nord went mental as always
then the game was ready to begin, but 1st the special PES2009 publicity in Olimpico with some 200 kids in the field
Olimpico was rather good filled (50.000, with a good 7.000 Interisti included) and roaring for a great game ... but the game was finished in the 2nd minute.
Before Lazio had attacked, JPC had to fish the first ball out of his goal, Samuel was incredible lonely in the sixteen, and 1st chance around ... bingo !
No worries, still 88 minutes left to get level and win, but after every passing minute you could see the sheer class and swift playing by Inter, just topclass-players in every line.
But Lazio kept playing as the crowd wanted, just 'non mollare mai' and go for it.
I remember 1 good chance for Pandev and some half ones, but Inter was always dangerous on the counter, always on the same side... Maicon could easily run his line and cross the ball in the box... where the unlucky Diakite scored the 0-2 from, while he was playing rather good, he was even one of the best till the 0-2. But I saw a powerless Lazio, tired from the midweek victory in Milan, even Pandev left after 1/2 hour for Rocchi, but even he couldn't change much. And Zarate was always running to midfield to get some balls, so the Inter defence had a rather quiet evening.
Great
from the Lazio crowd, when Zlatan did one of his magic tricks, backheeling a pass to Maicon, everyone was like
, great stuff by Zlatan and the Lazio fans showing great fair-play.
So half-time, time for some more beers
and dreaming about a great come-back if we score quick.
Then Brocchi came on to warm up, so I knew that Dabo would stay inside, he had some bad passes the 1st half, and the Corriere Dello Sport voted him as the best Lazio player ...
The 2nd half was ready to begin, the 11 celeste ready ... but Inter was nowhere ... after 1 min goalie Julio came on alone, and 30 sec later the rest strolled on field ... time to kick some Inter ass.
But within 10 min Zlatan scored the 0-3 (I've red in the papers it was off-side, but we couldn't see that) ... the final blow for this tired Lazio.
But hey, a freekick not much later, and a Kolarov cannonball went in, YES we're back ... till the ref decided it to retake ... Olimpico went menal and the ref got the usual 'buffone buffone'. No one had a clue what was wrong, even if the Inter wall was to close, looked like a valid goal. But later in the evening saw it on TV, and the ref blowed half a second before Kolarov's kick, because Rozehnal was shouting at the ref the wall was not on it's distance.
Thank God it was already 0-3, think if it was still 0-1 and this happened, the crowd went surely crazy.
The rest of the game, Lazio tried to get at least one goal, but Inter held firm and controlled the game.
Olimpico was running empty slowly, and everybody was waiting for the final whistle, because it feeled like a long bad dream, that longed for a good 90 min.
But the Nord kept faith in their team and kept on singin till the final end.
Full time 0-3, Lazio was
last night, but we will rise again !
Arrived this morning home, happy to see wife and kids, and my little boy was very very very happy when daddy gave him this :
and he asked me : 'Who won last night ?'
and I replied : 'Inter won, 0-3'
and so he looked at me and asked : 'Who is than the best team of the world?'
and I said : 'L A Z I O !'
