The first line up was: (4-2-3-1) -----------Rocchi------------ Zarate----Mauri----Foggia --Dabo---------Brocchi---- Kolarov-Cribari-Siviglia-Lichti -----------Muslera------------ This looks like a first team line up so why is Cribari there instead of Stendardo and is Mauri being reintegrated. This could well be an interesting development and tonight's line-up will be a good indicator. | |

| I hope Ballardini isn't another Siviglia fan.... as for attacking line ups, well in theory but with the first formation we are a man down if Mauri plays like he has done recently and in the second, no matter how attacking that is, Inzaghino will not be up to it. Stendardo should be re-integrated into the line up for sure, Cribari in the first line up suggests maybe he will stay and play? | |

| I'm glad Ballardini plays the 4231 formation, I think it's one of the best formations for attacking football, very wide counter attacking without sacrificing too much on defense and a lot of our players would fit in that formation. I can't wait to see the new look of our team. | |

| I wouldn't bank on the 4-2-3-1 becoming a permanent fixture.
From what I have seen, Ballardini likes his teams to defend as a unit and attack as a unit. This formation gives greater protection to our defence and relies heavily on our four man attack to do some damage.
The back four is a certainty but I think Davide will look to implement various tactics over training. Most of the team are used to playing 4-4-2 so I believe he will experiment with three man midfields and five man midfields. Matuzalem isn't available at present and I think the 4-2-3-1 is a good solution for when he doesn't play. If you were to slot him into a system like that, I think you would have to play him behind the front three in either a 4-2-1-2-1 or a 4-3-3.
I noticed Foggia seemed particularly comfortable on the right for Italy against Northern Ireland and how many times have we seen Zarate cut in from the left and score? I think the idea of having these guys in those kind of positions appeals to our new coach. Not sure if this is the way to go about it, only time will tell.
Mauri is not a natural trequartista so I do wonder if a new face will eventually be brought in there. Also, if we play with 2 defensive midfielders, we need to ask ourselves if Dabo and Brocchi suffice there if Ledesma leaves. Firmani could have a pivotal role this season if we opt for that formation.
I have concerns with a system like this but I think depending on each individual game, Ballardini will want a midfield that can adapt given the absence of a key player. In theory, it's perfect but in practice? That remains to be seen. | |

| Ballardini spoke with Ledesma yesterday, Pandev today and De Silvestri at a later date, presumably tomorrow.
There are more than 30 players at camp. Ballardini wants to narrow this down to 25. Correa, Tuia and Quadri all seem set to leave and perhaps more will follow. Apparently, new transfers are not being lined up until these guys depart.
Rumour is that our first choice backline next season will be youth-orientated: Kolarov-Radu-Diakite'-Lichtsteiner. The 4-2-3-1 is a possibility but as I expected, Ballardini has made no secret of his desire to alter it accordingly.
Nobody has been frozen out this season because our coach wants to work with the players we have and evaluate them accordingly.
I would expect in the coming days to see different formations and different combinations. The next friendly could be an excellent indicator. | |

| Ballardini: Zarate is young and he need to learn that a good attacker is also a good defender when the team need help. | |

Good to read that some players are being sent away on loans. It is very good experience for guys like Tuia. That defensive line up looks good and I have faith that it can work and develop into a really impressive unit. Just wondering, does this mean that guys like Stendardo now have no chance of staying on at Lazio? | |

According to the reports I've read, it is likely Stendardo and Cribari will depart but they're in Auronzo, so there's still a chance they could stay As for the squad numbers, notice how Del Nero and Diakite' both choose numbers that reflect their date of birth, perhaps Manfredini is trying to tell us something with 68? | |

----lich----stendardo--rozenhal---kolarov--
but with what i saw till now from ballardini say that he has not eye on stendardo & rozenhal, & i think he want use siviglia & cribari or even diakite & radu in CD more than them. |

Belleri isn't a Lazio player anymore, hsi contract expired and I'm pretty sure he signed on permanently with Bologna. Bonetto is on holiday with Baronio cause the two of them played Serie B playoffs. Lets hope they've found new homes by the time they are due to return. Plenty of interest. Mendicino is there, but he played at the Mediterranean games so he gets a short rest as well. Pretty sure we've decided to keep him and loan Kozak this season. One of them will definitely be loaned though. | |

I read quickly on Cittaceleste that Baronio has left the training camp in Auronzo, and that Mendicino has taken his place there... I didnt´t read everyhing so I dont know why Baronio left. | |
