Subject: Message To The Players Thu Oct 29, 2009 3:17 pm
Ok guys. I'm opening this topic after discussion last night. We are offering you guys an opportunity to write a short message of encouragement to the players. It is true we are in hell at the moment and many people have different methods to get themselves through these situations. Some peolpe protest, some peolpe sing, some people boo, so we are trying to give you guys the chance to simply say to the guys that we are still supporting you through this difficult time.
It is my intention with your help, that we remind the players and the staff that they not only represent Rome but they represent all of us from all over the world. So if you have a message of encouragement please write it here and if we get a good response then Paolo will kindly deliver it to Formello. Please note...this topic is what it states-ENCOURAGEMENT only. All spam and insults will be deleted.
Before you write anything I invite you to read a great post from one of our members Lucky Strike
Being Laziale is not always easy, but it is something you are, deep inside, with pride. In good and in bad times, with a good president or a bad president, with good results or with bad results. It does not matter, because you are Laziale. With your head up high, whatever happens. We've all been through good times, and bad times, but one thing stays, and that's our passion, our ideals, our Lazialità. When the players enter the field, emotions take over my body. Whether we're playing Inter, Reggina or Chievo, it simply does not matter. I look at the fans around me, I look into the Curva Nord. I see a portrait of Gabriele, our friend, and I wave my flag as if my life is depending on it. In many ways it is. Away from home I look at those people who give everything they have to their team, who pay hundreds of euros and who travel hundreds of kilometres just to wave their flag, sing their songs, support their club. It gives a very particular feeling. A feeling of trust, in a way, and a feeling of pride, always returning.
With Lotito we've been through some difficult times. Not always on the pitch, because we have booked some results to be proud of, but off the pitch. At one point our fans were divided, and I suppose they still are somehow. Some hate the man for this reason, some for another reason, others for all those reasons together. Some stay indifferent, because in the end it is that history, those colours, those ideals and that symbol that we support. Players come and go, presidents come and go. Some will be loved, others will be hated, that is life. But one thing stays, my dear Lazio friends, and that is our Lazio. Our proud eagle, flying over Rome, over Italy and over Europe, followed by those that some would call idiots. I call them heroes.
What happened in Verona last sunday, when police said the flags with the portrait of Gabriele Sandri could not enter the stadium, did not make me angry. It made me sad, obviously, but also so proud. And you know why? Because hundreds of Lazio fans, those who some would call idiots, and who I would call heroes, left the stadium because they would not enter without their friend Gabriele. They travelled hundreds of kilometres to see their team play, but left the stadium out of pride, respect, friendship, ideals. Lazialità.
What is happening in Italy these days (and in the past years) is depressing. What's been happening in Lazio these days (and in the past years) is not always as pleasant, but we're surviving. Perhaps many of you at this point wonder what I'm trying to say. Well, nothing really, and everything all at once. I read this forum with great pleasure, because it makes me happy to see all those people from around the world who care so much about la mia Lazio. I also see some people who seem to care more about attacking some people, rather than showing real Lazialità, and that makes me sad. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that we're all Lazio fans, and that we should respect one another. We all love those colours, that symbol, that history. We all dislike/hate that other team, a team of what some would call idiots. And I agree. Let's respect our past, and look into the future with a positive attitude. Some things will not change, some things will not disappear just like that. Be proud of our Lazio, support the team and wave your flag, sing your song. Have respect for the people who have fought for Lazio, who have died for Lazio, and for those who remember them.
Avanti Lazio.
Gabriele vive.

Win or lose, we are blessed to be laziali.
It's through the difficult times that one's character shines through. With effort and heart, the results will come.
We're proud to represent our colours and proud to have you represent us. Together, we will prevail as we have done over the last 110 years.

Ragazzi, you represent all of us around the world, us who call ourselves Laziali. You get to live our dreams by wearing the magical maglia every Sunday. You get to walk out and represent us in the Stadio Olimpico. We ask that you continue to show your Lazialita' by playing your skins out for this shirt, show grinta on the field, we need 11 lions out there and we will be the 12th.
Please give us something to celebrate on our fantastic 110th anniversary. Forza e Onore. Non Mollare Mai.

THESE CLIPS ARE FROM SOME OF THE MOST LEGENDARY COACHES IN OUR AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE.
THE GAME IS VERY DIFFERENT TO SOCCER, BUT THE PASSION TRANSENDS ALL SPORTS.
THIS WAS DONE FOR A TV CLIP, BUT IF THIS IS THE PASSION USED FOR A TV SEGMENT, IMAGINE THESE LEGEND COACHES DURING THE HEAT OF A GAME.
THIS IS WHAT I EXPECT FROM MY LAZIO PLAYERS... THIS IS THE PASSION I EXPECT FROM BALLA
ENJOY...

That's absolute quality, Kris.
Ballardini could also learn a lot from a certain Delio Rossi when it comes to passion and motivation.
