Name one goalkeeper that has made more howlers over the last two years. Some penalty saves in a cup-final doesn't make him a good goalkeeper.

I guess today's game is a proof that Muslera is up to it! He's one of the better goalkeepers in serie A at such a young age. As for the blunders most of them where done in his first season and that is expected of a youngster in a new league and you're expected to replace Peruzzi the expectations where to high. I can remember a certain Frey in his early days in Italy and he did commit huge blunders altough his talent was always there and I can see the same situation with Muslera.

Muslera is among the best goalkepers in Serie A. If he had better defence than this, he would be on top without doubt!
Lazio schould make the team on players like this and you schould learn to respect..

I once again dare you guys to name a goalie that has made more howlers these last two years. Making some supersaves aren't enough when you're as error-prone as Muslera is, and he quite simply doesn't have what it takes to be a great goalkeeper.

There are only a few goalkeepers that are playing at his age, I already mentioned Frey who did alot of mistakes at his age, even Buffon did his mistakes at Parma, Lloris the french national goalkeeper also had his fare share of mistakes. The fact that Muslera at his age is prefered to Bizzarri who is an established Serie A goalkeeper already proves he is serie A material also being the national goalkeeper of Uruguay in decisive matches and being prefered to Castillo who is rated to be a very good goalkeeper also is a proof that he's not a Serie B standard. Now if you could only mention some Serie B goalkeepers that have actually made some high quality saves like Muslera did and who can defend 1 on 1 as good as Muslera than he might be Serie B material but I highly doubt it, what he has achieved at such a young age already merits a starting place in most of the Serie A teams.

Frey and Buffon, or Lloris for that matter didn't make anywhere near as many howlers as Muslera has, and the latter is still making them, after being an established regular for some time. He's just as "established" in Serie A as Bizzarri, so that point is hardly valid.

And I firmly believe that, for instance, our old goalkeeper Matteo Sereni is better than Muslera at all the points you mentioned (though he is also error-prone), and the goalkeepers of all three newly promoted teams this season are of equal/greater quality. The rest of Serie B I can't really comment on, as it isn't exactly a league I follow with keen interest.

Some keepers have it' some don't. Muslera is a good shot stopper that can be a match-vinner between the posts, but he also has the potential to lose games on his own, something he has done, and continues to do his fair share of. He doesn't have the mental strength to perform consistently over an entire season, and that makes him far from a top-notch goalkeeper.

This argument became mute the second he mentioned Sereni. You almost had me fooled for a second there CS.

Howlers? Meriting a goalie on howlers? I guess that makes Fabien Barthez and David James also Serie B goalkeepers. How about that save on Perrotta's shot tonight?

The goalie can only do so much, and the part that Nando is responsible for is dealt with expertly. In one year he's won a Coppa, Supercoppa, became a first choice keeper for a NT that is headed to SA. I guess the rest of the world does not share your view.

Sereni...give me a break...

You may find this hard to believe, but not losing the team points on your own is quite an important part of being a goalkeeper, and this is where Nando has failed miserably so far in his Lazio career. What may be in the future is irrelevant, as it is completely hypothetical, but right now what he's shown just isn't good enough, and I find it quite incredible that many of you are completely oblivious to this fact.

But thank you for the warm welcome. Believe it or not, making "friends" is not my primary reason for participating on a debate forum...

and please tell us how many howlers Muslera did, cause personally I think 99% of the goals we get can't be saved or are a defense mistake. and you criticizing Muslera makes me think you don't watch Lazio games

Muslera - howlers? - Yes, in his first game against Milan.

But then.....?!

Muslera was in the last season our best player. He was very good the whole season long. Games to remeber - against Napoli, the 4-2 derby, and especially the Super Cup Mtach against Inter.

Inter have could lead this game at halftime about 3 oder 4 to 0. But we had an incredible Muserla.

Seriously dude, how can you be saying things like that about Nando!?

He had a howler against Milan 2 seasons ago I agree. And against Cagliari this season at home he let the ball slip past him from a free kick as well. Those were it really. Apart from them I can't think of any others.

How many insane saves has he managed to pull off? Too many to count.

In today's derby did you see the save he made on Perotta's header? Or on Riise's volley? Both were great.

And don't forget the penalty shoot out against Sampdoria mate Wink

you´re right. I only postet the matches without shootouts.

We know that Nando is an penalty killer. Against Samp for the cup, and 3 in a row against Osasuna in the friendly.

So he lost us 2 points this season against Cagliari, and what else. I can think of at least 9 points he saved for us all alone when he has to do with Siviglia and Cribari in the back line. Look at the stats, our problem is not the defense (in a way it is, but conceding one goal per game average isn't disastrous) it's the 2nd worst attack in Serie A. This is a season where 1goal=3 points and with just 3 goals more we would have been in 10th instead of 15th place.

I remember two "howlers" in the last year and frankly, that term is an exaggeration. I've seen Champions League keepers make more mistakes in one game.

I appreciate Muslera first and foremost as Lazio's numero uno. Thereafter, watching him feature among Eurosport's goal stops of the week on a regular basis makes me proud. No joke, Nando is among the best shotstoppers in the world due to his reflexes and at his age, that's incredible. There is a reason why he is on Manchester United's goalie shortlist...

He makes the occasional error and he's not the consistent 30-35 year-old goalkeeper for obvious reasons. Saying he is Serie B standard, however, is frankly laughable.
