Lazio [worst] team of the decade 2000-2010

I am drafting up one of these for the Lazio Offside after an inspired conversation with Gio and Ed (as most of our convos turn out)

Thought I'd start a topic for a bit of fun and debate.

So who makes the cut for you guys?

in any condition Manfredini is Capitan & Makinwa is our ace striker

Good one with Bonnani daniel, he was never going to make it - plays for Pescara now apparently.

Plus whatever we go with here, Balla has to be coach, I know Caxi would disagree but he is fresh in the mind unfortunately and would help take this team to new depths...

oh come on, sereni was mostly good with us, nor should filippini's or muzzi really be mentioned in this topic..

Ok, my final selection is as follows:

Carrizo (for the wait, the cost and the failure and abysmal attitude)

Oscar Lopez (because he was a propsect and still is years on)
Lequi (did the business in Spain, now in Greece because he plays like he did in Rome)
Colonnese (ex-Rioma, did well at Inter and still failed miserably here)
Pesaresi (mainly because we killed a decent player)

Lazetic (talented but really awful)
Manfredini (no explanation needed)
de la Pena (a very decent player who just did nothing of note during our golden era)
Mendieta (worst transfer in history)

Makinwa (for cost reasons and complete inability to score despite numerous chances)
Kovacevic (for being useful at Juve and Sociedad and being terrible with us but still good enough to whip our backsides in CL years later)

Good choices there, although you missed out the main man of uselessness

I would still argue that Seric should always be in somewhere, for me ahead of Pesaresi who only played 2 games, probably as a substitute. Seric was more culpable for some of our most shambolic displays than Lequi to be honest!

Up front I think that however bad Kovacevic was in his 7 appearances, Tare was probably as bad and was given heaps more playing time. He continues to trouble us now in his (undeserved) position at the club.

There would easily be enough ridiculous players for three 11’s… at least we can all have a laugh at their expense now they are part of our history.

Tare should be omitted just because he scored that scissor kick once against Ascoli

Other than that, yeah all those people suck ass at football.

caxi,mendieta could be our worst transfer but he didnt play to much,also colonesse,lequi,pesaressi(all togethher do not have games played as filippini brothers,they have one seasson,what a seasson )
also de la pena didnt looks so funny like others(even if he do something wrong with the ball,all of us knows what he was trying to do,but the others man,years are gonne and stil nobody knows what they wanted in footbal field )
sivighla stil do not knows the diference of blocking players 30 meters from the goal and 10 meters near the goal,last year he start to understand that he s the last in defence,also to learn some simple tricks of ofside(he deserve to be in first eleven,to much games,and all of us stil are more afraid from him than from the attackers of team against we playing)
baronio,34 years and he s stil promising and talented players,also puting him as the playmaker of our team gives the balla place as our coach in this team,zaccheroni was near .
leaving inzaghi and tare out,c mon guys,no way
i m glad that we are unic about manfredini as a captain

FYI: I included players who sucked like everywhere, that's why you don't find Mendieta or de la Pena in the list.

I remember only one game of Pesaresi, season before we loaned him at Benfica. Not played bad at all, in this Lazio maybe he will be useful player. I think that I saw tattoo of his left upper leg of triple x -- XXX -- funny..

I think that De la Pena doesn't deserve to be in this topic.. Sven rarely (read almost never) played him, so is natural for him to have bad games. For example with Couto was the same, he also didnt played so much, but, he stayed in Lazio and in Zoff's team found his place.

From all Lazio transfers I see Mendieta as biggest flop, mostly for the big expectations that everybody had for him and mainly for the reason that one of Lazio's top 20 players (Fiore) was sent in Valencia becouse of money that we owed to Valencia..

O.Lopez I don't consider as a football player.. Awful!

We had Barionio's brother in our squad too? I see two Baronio's listed there. You have a good line up there, tough we surely had worse defenders than Siviglia, he had some very good seasons remember his partnership with Crib when we had Peruzzi as our GK, we had close to the best defence in the league, Gottardi certainly doesn't deserve a mention, the guy used to give his all here and had some good performances too. He was certainly better than lets say Sorin and the famous Ola!

Well, Baronio was so bad that I listed him twice, hehe. Gottardi fighting for every ball and giving his best doesn't make him a better player, in my eyes. Regarding Siviglia I think he was responsible for many goals we conceeded. He is often out of position, too slow and mistaken-prone, not just this season, but also years before. Maybe it didn't show that much in the past because of our better overall results.

Fair bit of truth in what you say about Siviglia,there wasn`t anyone to replace him otherwise he wouldn`t have played so many games.Baronio yes and seric haha I`d forgotten about him he was improving towards the end mind you.
