Indeed, that's what I'm reading in a lot of reports. Apparently Kolarov was very solid defensively too, though from the highlights I have seen Samp got past him twice pretty easily. Also, Lichtsteiner gets thumbs up from a lot of sites, that tackle on Cassano near the start was brilliant, goal saving tackle.

If Kolarov can stay solid defensively, we can slowly move Radu in the central defensive position to play alongside Rozehnal. I think this is what Rossi has planned, 'cause, though Siviglia has been pretty good for us so far this yr, he isn't getting any younger. And we have a real battle for the right back spot with Lorenzo and Lichtstiener, both are damn good. All in all, I feel this makes up for an ever improving defensive unit, with Carrizo in goals.

I think many are starting to change their opinion of Brocchi. He has shown to not only be a good solid defensive player but also one who can deliver defence splitting passes, just as we have seen in Pandev's goal.

It doesn't matter how Pandev scores, just as he did. I do think he is a pretty good finisher, definitely not in the class of RVN for sure, but he is capable of 20 goals per season.

2 things i had noticed today
1: Pandev is a poor finisher i love this player but he was so lucky in the 2nd goal slotting in the middle of the goal that was quiet an easy shot.

We won 2 matches in a row ..and we`re leading serie a ..but there are still some things that i don`t understand from Delio Rossi. Many said after last match that we should kiss his.. because he changed our playing style with Cagliari ..and now many said that this win is his job. Wrong..and i`m sorry if i don`t praise Rossi like i should but...

1 We were lucky when we had 1-0. If there wasnt Carrizo..they would have equalized for sure. And i`m not talking about saves..but he controled our defense. A defense who looks drunk from time to time...and i don`t know why. Kolarov, David, Lich .. are young talented players..but sometimes they look like they kneese are shaking. In fear..that is. Only Cassano`s stupidity kept our 1-0.
2 We lose midfield very quick and easy. We were dead there half of this match (if not more). Mauri.. pathetic as usual. Meghni felt weird also..probably because he played at the same time with Mauri. Another thing that i don`t get it. They are players who usualy have the same job in the pitch..you can`t play them both at the same time (look at Lampard and Gerrard case). Not to mention that Mauri is useless anyway. If we didnt had a left mid for this game..then i wouldnt mind to see another idiot..Manfredini. All in all..our mid was dead. Lucky us that Ledesma seems to take his captain role in serious and Brocchi had a consistent match. We give our mid too easy...

Of course..like last year..we have a great attack. And with Rocchi..Lazio should have one of the best trio in the world (Pandev-Rocchi-Zarate). That is our hope..because in rest..i don`t see and tactics and any goals. They seems to play like "let`s see what happens".

I`m thrilled because we scored 11 goals in this 3 first matches and we won all of them..but in my opinion we don`t look that good as we like to think. Sampdoria was very unlucky..and that`s because, it seems, we are playing only with 5-6 players again. I still don`t see any plans and any good tactic. Maybe i`m wrong..but this is just my feeling.

well we all praise Zarate and Pandev but we must give credit to Lichtsteiner .. he kept the result 0:0 with brilliant defensive work when Kolarov lost the ball

meghni/manfredini was an excellent planned sub due to mourad conditions.

christian sisostre moved on the pitch and kolarov increased his solid defensive attitude vs stankevicius.

well...we won, but with a lot of notes...
Our defenders really suffered because of the inconsistencies of our midfiled players...luckily for us, Sampdoria only managed to create chances, but not goals they should have scored...

Rossi Receives Cassano Yellow Card

Yesterday's match between Sampdoria and Lazio produced an interesting moment between Delio Rossi and Antonio Cassano, wherein the creative player 'yellow-carded' the Lazio coach...


An impressive Biancoceleste side took the lead after only seven minutes through Mauro Zarate, before Goran Pandev completed the 2-0 win on 76 minutes, leaving Sampdoria and Cassano with only one point after two games.

A funny moment took place during the first half which the neutral would have enjoyed - one which revealed a funny side of Samp's turbulent number 99. Fantantonio was fouled by Stephan Lichtsteiner in front of the Lazio bench, but Rossi believed that the talented Italian had dived and accused him of such. He quickly realised that he was wrong when Lichtsteiner immediately apologised for the challenge.

In a moment that the coach will remember for some time, Cassano, with a smile on his face, lifted his hand and made a gesture, implying that he was giving the coach a yellow card before continuing to play. Looking back on the moment of spontaneity in good spirits, Rossi said, “To me this was funny, perhaps because I don't coach him.

“I had not seen the foul, as I only see fouls against us in the games, and so he booked me.”

2 games, 2 wins and I still haven't watched a Lazio game in Serie A this season .. I hope next week I'll be free to watch the game with Milan

Stephan Lichtsteiner is on the goal team of the week, Zarate and Pandev are honourable mentions.... I think Zarate should have been on the team as well

Stephan Kept Antonio Cassano shackled all game and his brilliant intervention on Il Talentino di Bari early was top-draw. It was a challenge which could be seen as a goal for Lazio, it was that good. He also set up Zarate with a pinpoint pass for the striker to score. A great display by the Swiss stopper
