There was almost an inevitability about Massa's accident yesterday. These accidents in motorsport come in waves and after the tragic death of Henry Surtees, I naturally had a bad feeling about this weekend.

I hope he pulls through. In my opinion, he is one of the best racers in the world, perhaps only behind Alonso and on top of all that, he strikes me as being a wonderful person.

He's in a serious condition, but in a stable condition after an operation was performed.

Doctors came out and made a statement that he will be kept in an induced coma for another 48hrs, whilst they assess the seriousness of the brain bruising. Such a freak accident, hope he pulls through.

According to Barrichello, the doctors are fairly certain he will be fine and one of the guys said today that his life is not in danger although any complication would probably put his life in danger again. However, all tests have been positive thus far.

They're also fairly certain he has damaged his eye. Clearly, the most important thing is that he survives but obviously, I hope he recovers 100%. It would be a crying shame if we never see him behind a F1 car again.

There should be a fairytale in this script...

BMW will not race in 2010.

Schumacher will reportedly be his stand-in.

I am thrilled Schumacher is back in a Ferrari but I wish it were under different circumstances....

100% agree Gio. I was never a massive fan of Schumi but having him back in the sport is terrific but not under such circumstances.

BMW pulling out is sad to see but potentially magnificent for 2010. Kubica is hot property. Rumour had it that Kovalainen would be allowed to stay at McLaren next season because he was given a poor car to work with this year but after Hamilton won in Hungary, I question whether this will remain the case. To make the situation even more interesting, Hamilton has named Kubica as the only racing driver he fears. So will McLaren go for the dream team? Add into the equation that Heidfeld was overlooked for Raikkonen when both were at Sauber when it was thought McLaren may be forced to take on a German driver because of Mercedes. Highly interesting scenario.

It was believed Ferrari were going to announce Alonso and Massa as their 2010 driver line-up. The bosses today announced that Massa's drive will be there if and when he is fit to return. So where does that leave Raikkonen? And will they plump for Kubica if Massa is unfit next season? Decisions, decisions.

Another scenario is that Williams must keep Nakajima as one of their drivers to receive Toyota engines. I wonder would they employ Heidfeld, have an all German team and try an attract BMW as engine suppliers as it was in the past? Again, very interesting.

I'm not surprised at this. The announcement of three new teams was to stop the big manafacturers from pulling a trick like this but now Ferrari see their chance.

Everybody in the paddock is convinced that Raikkonen is about to make way for Alonso and Schumacher pulling out with this 'neck injury' did seem strange. Massa was supposed to be out for the season; surely Schumacher would have a fit neck by the middle of October? The fact that Massa could be fit to race in a matter of weeks has in my opinion, forced Ferrari to rethink things.

The thought of Massa, Alonso and Schumacher spearheading Ferrari next year is moutwatering and under the right circumstances. Whether the FIA could oppose this taking into account how much it would boost ratings in debateable.

I will say one thing; it would create a two-tier system which is exactly what the FIA have said Ferrari are trying to do.

Schumacher has pulled out of racing the ferrari. He has cited a motorcycle injury he sustained earlier in the year as the cause. Who is the ferrari test driver? Will he fill in, or are they allowed to hire anyone now?

It will be Luca Badoer, Italian guy, hasn't raced in F1 for 11 years and one of their 2 test drivers.

I have total respect for Badoer. He has been at Ferrari for sooo long just as a test driver and think it is the right decision following Schumacher's decision to pull out. Good luck Luca!

What a pole from Giancarlo Fisichella; he may be a Riomanista but he can drive a car

It will be a very interesting race tomorrow; I make Heidfeld favourite but it really could be anyone. I've never seen a closer and more competitive grid. Spa is the longest circuit in F1 and for some reason, these guys are being separated by milliseconds.

Love this GP, one I intend to go to in the next few years and hopefully we'll get a good race tomorrow.

Ferrari are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The day has to belong to Fisichella, what a drive, what a car! Really hope to see him in a ferrari for Monza, every Italian's dream!

KERS really helped Ferrari the day; it was the difference between a win and a couple of points. Fisi could of won; that's the sad part.

Moving to Ferrari would be fulfilling a dream I guess but Fisi has the better car at the minute.

Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds have just quit Renault as the team have decided they cannot contest Piquet's race-fixing claims. IN other words, Nelsinho was asked to crash his car in Singapore last year to win the race for Alonso.

I'm a big fan of Renault and a huge F1 fan in general and I usually love controversies like this but putting people's lives in danger to win a race, for whatever reason, is beyond imaginable.

its their own fault!always didn't like the way briatore works!!this is the first time i have ever known in F1 that a team asks a driver to crash!
