| A win against a schizophrenic Genoa side proves nothing but it's a start. Excellent tactics today, Kolarov and Lichtsteiner played their wide, attacking roles excellently, del Nero was superb at left-back, Stendardo did a tremendous job in the centre; not only did he keep the defense tight but he also moved into Ledesma territory and hassled the opposition superbly. Rocchi was sharp and problematic and Zarate and Meghni added a lot of guile. Much to be happy about and yet areas remain to be improved, which is always good. It's only one game but that's the Lazio I've been waiting and expecting to see for quite a while. It's a long season; a long time to get it horribly wrong or magnificently right. Let's hope for the latter. | |

| We won! What a torturous game, though. Genoa are such a dirty team but what do you expect with a Gobbo coach. They could have had more than one red, it was a rough foul after rough foul. Our players again whined a lot to the ref but at least fought hard for the victory. We played in some weird formation with four defenders and Kolarov and Lichtsteiner as wide midfileders. Didn't create much, sure enough but Kolarov and Lichtsteiner were a lot better than in previous games and Firmani's presence actually seemed to improve our defence compared to lightweight Baronio. We could have lost the lead, though but got a bit lucky. With the defence playing decently, now we just need to find out ways to score mroe often and we might not get relegated after all. Yay!
In other news Delio Rossi finally beat Milan in the league...he had to change teams but still. | |

| VICTORY!, finally.
Great feeling to have finally registered a win again. We dit not play briliant, exactly quite similar to how we have been playing for the past 3 games. we are defensively very hard to break down, but struggle to create chances, if not for Kolarov's determined effort game could have been 0-0 again. We did hold much possesion but struggle to find final break through. Although I believe we are improving, Zarate had great chance within 6 min and was lively if frustrated throughout. Meghni had skillfull pass on Zarate and is very technical but needs to be more effective. Firmani provides heart in midfield and the warrior spirit we all love. Very positive for me was Del Nero, great as left wing back. This pushed Kolarov to the center midfield which might not be a bad idea for other games as well, he shots are way more dangerous. In defense Radu did good job, Stendardo great again and Siviglia ok. Lichtensteiner worked hard had some great runs and nice cross for Zarate. Rocchi worked hard as well but did not have a chance to score, except from a dangerous cross. Muslera was great in goal.
In sum, defensively we are doing good, limited genoa to few half chances and one shot on post, offensively we need to improve. | |

| a nice fought win! defensively we look very good. Radu and Stendardo made a very good game. Great job by Nando. Del Nero and Meghni were great. More to ask from Zarate and Rocchi. What left a bad taste in my mouth is that the last 15 mins we were completely beaten with a player more! the ref was a moron ! that is all I can say. Very nice to get 3pts finally. If atalanta can hold inter so can we! FORZA LAZIO | |

| What a nervous match...
We were not to good in the last half hour (from what I saw through lagging streams). Even at 10 men we couldn't keep the ball and defended much. If not for Muslera it could have been the usual, but Nando was excellent. And Genoa wasted a couple good chances as well..
That said Zarate also missed a sitter early on and Scarpi had some good saves. It was an even game and we were probably more fortunate today. But we deserved more in the last few games and finally we got that bit of luck.
It was interesting to see some players given a chance today. Although without the likes of Baronio and Matuzalem we had a hard time of keeping the ball.
Too bad it will be very tough to follow up this win with another result. Nonetheless it's a relief to get at least one win before the Christmas break. | |

| I expect Lotito to come with statement on Goal.com: "Lazio is aiming for the Scudetto!" Great win but I'm not so sure that Balla, has sense for right tactics in right time. At the end of the game, easy could've been 1:1.. FORZA LAZIO! | |

| I actually think today was a tactical masterclass...
The difference is Stendardo and how Ballardini is utilising him. This 3-4-1-2 has been criticised for being too defensive but actually, it is currently being used to great effect. If you watched the match closely, you'll notice Guglielmo had a specific role that he executed perfectly.
When we're on the backfoot and an attacker is onrushing, Stendardo charges out of the backline and puts the attacker under immense pressure. He did it time and time again today and what happens then is the defense reverts to a three man defence while Stendardo and somebody else (Firmani today) chase the attacker. Another midfielder drops back for good measure. So, when Genoa were on the attack today, our defense reverted to one of two possibilities:
------Zarate------Rocchi-------
-------------Meghni-------------
-----Kolarov--------------------
-------------Firmani--Brocchi--
------------Stendardo----------
--Radu---Siviglia--Lichtsteiner
OR
-------Zarate-------Rocchi-----
--------------Meghni------------
--------------------Lichtsteiner-
-Kolarov----Firmani------------
-----------Stendardo-----------
--Del Nero--Radu---Siviglia---
This allows us to fill that void left behind by Ledesma. Ok, Stendardo is not the ideal solution but the fact he is showing himself to be the only solution (Baronio is not the same type of player) illustrates a problem out of Ballardini's hands.
The problem is, we then have to rely on our individual weapons to get something up the other end and while Zarate and Rocchi are sharp, they don't look like scoring. Today, Ballardini made a genius substitution; he didn't put Del Nero on for Brocchi because there was nobody else but it was a deliberate ploy to allow Kolarov to focus on attack rather than defense. And who got the winner?
There you have it. This is something that has been developing for a few games now and today it all came togehter with limited players such as Siviglia, Firmani, Meghni and Del Nero on the field.
IF we spend in January and bring in a creative midfielder and maybe one top class centre back, this will be a tough side to both break down and prevent from scoring. Fair dues, Davide probably shouldn't be here but he's starting to get something out of this bunch that I haven't seen for years and I'm feeling quietly confident about the next few months.
I know people are bogged down about Lotito and I won't deny that I am too but really, I've seen some huge positives recently. I thought he hit the nail on the head first time out and I was wrong but I'm hoping this works. | |

| Finally a win! I'm happy that the team put up quite a fight to take all the points from this game. The team didn't play that good but now I think the most important thing is to take points and mainly wins so we can move up a bit in the standings. | |

| Great to get 3 much needed points. Hopefully we can build on this and put in a respectable performance against Levski and of course then at the San Siro.
Inter need to bounce back, so a point there would be great. | |
