| Lotito and Mezzaroma were penalized for ilegally owning the club, together they had more than 50% of the club and blocked any intrested parties from taking over the club. Lotito has 1 year 8 months jail and 20,000 euros fine while Mezzaroma has 1 year 4 months in jail and 20,000 euros fine.

But this is not decided yet. It is just the demands from the prosecutor's office as far as I know.... And 20mil is 20 000 euro... | |

So if Lotito and Mezzaroma are found guilty what happens? They get fined and go to jail? But what about Lazio? | |

| This isn't from goal.com. The news come straight from the courts, even Lazio lawyer has commented it. It seems in January there will be an decision made. | |

| Lazio is a register firm witch it's ownership is regulated with stoke shear. If Lotito goes to jail I'll give 1000€ and suggest we all buy out Lazio shear. | |

| well.. buying shares in Lazio is a nice idea.. but i think it's against the law.. we were discussing a similar case in the office today and i copied the goal.com report and showed it to my colleagues.. I gotta say, if these reports prove to be true, then this man is in a serious trouble.. usually business men who own shares in big companies tend to sell these shares to third parties who they trust, and then buy them back through "under-table" agreements (not necessarily share transfer agreements but other simpler forms of transactions).. This way, they can easily avoid taxes and turn around some regulations.. I don't know what lotito was thinking of, or his motives, but in the same time i don't believe he would commit such an act.. he bought lazio in a disasterous position.. all eyes were, and still are, focused on lazio's financials, especially after the progress the club has witnessed under lotito's management.. so it wouldn't be possible for him to maneuvre easily.. | |

Ok. Update. Today Consob (the Italian Stock market Authority) has condemned lotito to pay a 530,000 fine because of the lotito & mezzaroma pact to control the majority of the club. Well done lotito, thank you! | |

| Again, he has a month to appeal which he will surely do. Mezzaroma was fined 330,000€. I just wonder how much does Lazio spend on lawyers these days. I guess the Lazio lawyers earn more than Lazio players at this point in time. | |

| I am disgusted from all this. we are here waiting for a exciting and diffcult match mixing our passion wih Lotito problems... I believe that Lazio , as a team , deserve a dedicated section where we talk about ONLY la Lazio and so, a different one dedicated to al cr..p around Lotito and his problems. I don't wanna mix anymore his name with the Team.... But maybe is impossible.-.. | |

| Lotito wants salary cap Tuesday 19 May, 2009 Lazio President Claudio Lotito has called for a salary cap in Serie A to create a level playing field and prevent financial meltdown.
Lotito prides himself on sensible financial management and has tried to keep wages under control in his squad.
And with the Lega Calcio, the outspoken supremo is hoping to make a change to the Italian game as a whole.
“We are thinking about establishing a cost containment plan for wages,” La Repubblica quotes Lotito as telling students at Luiss University in Rome.
“I think we need to impose a salary cap for players, but there are obstacles to this.
“There are teams in Serie A that spend £275m on wages per year and make a loss of £86m.
“At Lazio we have a wage bill of £26m and we make a £26m profit. Who has won this Scudetto?”
Channel 4
-------------------
Lotito, I suggest you pull your finger out of your a$$ and find out how other clubs are making £100m+. Do your maths. Do not go around telling people that you spend 26m and make 26m. You need to find a way of making 70m profit and spending 50m-60m. Learn ways to increase profit.
Other clubs have great merchandise, sponspors on shirts, etc and we have very little. Lotito, it is not working. We are only using 30% of our engine thank to you. We need to go full steam and at least use 70% of our engine.
Damn you pig! | |

| We can't.
We don't have the muscle of Inter, Juentus, AC, Fiorentina, Rioma...even Napoli, Genoa or Palermo.
Profit comes from merchandise, tickets and European competition. Well, we now have European competition, Zarate will sell shirts and good performances means we sell tickets.
It's a slow process but a salary cap would propel us to the top again in all likelihood. That's why Lotito is saying this because right now, we are climbing a tall ladder, step by step. It's better to reach the top eventually than slip on some rung and end up at the bottom. | |

| We should make more money now we are in Europe as pointed out, and the signing of Zarate could well pay for itself eventually with the contribution that he has made from 1. taking us into Europe and 2. Shirt sales as pointed out. Eventually, more revenue will be generated through the new stadium development. It is a gradual process, but we are getting there. The signings like Kolarov, Radu etc etc show we dont always need to break the bank to deliver quality.
I understand why Lotito says salery cap, but it would damage the league unless this was fixed everywhere around Europe. Why? because how can Serie A expect to attract top talents with a Salary cap in place, they will just go elsewhere making it uncompetitive. | |

i am sorry, but that's just stupid...that's VERY stupid. We don't have the power of Palermo - a countryside team that saw what serie A is a couple of years ago, and Lazio - the team of the capital, doesn't have their power? I think you need to do some research on serie A mate. You're doing everything to justify Lotito's actions, and if the time comes, you will even say that we don't have the muscle of Sampdoria, Udinese and Atalanta..cause that's what you're thinking now, isn't it? | |

I think UEFA should bring in a rule to minimise club spending , something like you cannot spend more than 100% of your revenue, or maybe a little more like 110%. That would even things out a bit. | |

Sicily is a countryside, you can ask even Sicilians. Zamparini with his supermarkets chain cannot have more than la Lazio. Milan spends Berlusconi's money, whereas Juventus FIAT's. With the financial crisi hitting the car companies, I very much doubt Juventus will spend a lot this summer. Moratti has his own money from his oil business. Meanwhile, Inter is the club that spends reasonably. Della Valle of Fiorentina is a powerful man, but all he has is a clothing company. In fact, Sampdoria may have more money than Fiorentina. P.S. There was a ranking a couple of months ago of the richest clubs in the world? You know where Lazio was? 20th. So, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I don't wanna hear any tales about Lazio being poor from no one on this forum. Therefore, I am very much looking forward to the summer transfer window | |
