Anyway, let's put it this way: I prefer to loose both games with Atalanta but then beat Lecce, Bologna and Napoli in the next 3 rounds of Serie A...

I consider Coppa a good way for us to play players that havent been given that much, or no, time in the league. Apart from that it is a way to Europe, no matter what - it might be the final solution for us. Also, it is the only chance we could ever play merda in a one-game decider where a trophy would be waiting for the winner. I remember last year and how close we were to getting that super derby in a decisive game like a coppa finale would be. Of course we should not field all our starters, but I do think we should give Coppa a fair chance and try to win it. A waste of time, energy and players? Maybe. But we are in it and I am sure the guys that have been benched so far are eager to show their worth and give the Atalanta game a fair go and hopefully we will be good enough to advance from this.

We need to get to Europe to be able to keep players year in and year out. If Coppa is our way to get there we will not know until the end of the season. Therefore, we must aim for winning all games we are involved in.

I agree with you completely Cash. Rest some starters but definitely not all. Perhaps give Carrizo a rest and put in Muslera and some of the youngsters like Mendicino, Tuia, Kozak and Faraoni. Give some of the defenders a break and slot in one or two of them. I am sure Rossi will have everything sorted out but it will be a tough game as Atalanta are sitting pretty near the top of Serie A with 3 wins out of the 5 games so they will make it difficult and I expect Del Neri will field his strongest XI for this game. Hope to see some of Rocchi, Firmani, Dabo, Matuzalem and Cribari back for this game. I am sure it will be a good game.

Rest Pandev and Zarate, but go with Rocchi. He needs to get back on the pitch and play. Assuming he's healthy...lets throw him out there against Atalanta. He will spark the offense and while we may be a top Serie A, we still need to take this tourny seriously, because it IS a way into Europe. As we know...Serie A is a LONG season and anything can happen.

What are you guys talking about? we barely have starters in this team! we almost have two same strong teams with our current rosters... Rossi's truly starters only pandev, ledesma, siviglia and carrizo... also zarate is becoming one of them now..

I don't care who will play... but winning is a must... don't ever let go any game at all...

These are professional atheletes and should have no problems playing on sunday - wednesday - saturday considering that the last 2 games are at home. I consider Pandev to be more important then Zarate since he's used to playing with Rocchi who will be back soon.

We dont play in europe, so our competition basicly only serieA n coppa...
It's common to play twice a week and our player must have the strength, otherwise, we're in doubt if we want to be a european contender...

I think this game is there to be lost. I am having difficulty understanding the mentality here. I definitely think we should rest a few guys but on paper, Atalanta at home is a much tougher tie than Lecce at home. So for me at least, resting some individuals for the Lecce game seens a bit bizarre.

I thought in the Torino game we had problems getting the midfield to link with Foggia and I said Meghni should be tried instead of Mauri because I think he would get forward more. Perfect game to try this in. Kolarov and De Silvestri can step in for Lichtsteiner and Radu with relative ease so this seems to be logical. Firmani is up for any game, so I would put him in and have Dabo as further protection.

No need to leave out Carrizo, if we want to win, he's the best bet. Muslera will get his chance at some point. I wouldn't leave out Zarate either; to leave out the in form striker and rely on Makinwa and Inzaghi who struggle to score is foolish. We should look to kill the game in 45 minutes, bring Inzaghi on later for Zarate if we have done so and keep Pandev fresh for Lecce. If we want, we can rest Mauro against Lecce when Rocchi is back. Siviglia needs a rest and I think Diakite' is capable of stepping in. That's what I would pick, that's what I believe we should do and I have explained why so start disagreeing NOW!

Good to see that Dabo and Firmani are both back for this game. Unfortunately Rocchi isn't but its a very good team that Rossi has at his disposal so I am feeling good for this match. I hope Rossi unleashes the beast that is Inzaghi!
