THE DERBY ...

I'm with vent on this one. Kick the bastards, I can't imagine a scenario sweeter than us beating them in the last round to relegate them (other than winning the scudetto), and although it is highly unlikely it is nice to have dreams.

I fucking love derby time, makes me feel so alive, bursting with energy singing songs and chants in my head day in and day out!!!

So we are favourite this time, no? It's been a while really... This could be an interesting match as always, but the fact roma hasn't won in past 5 Serie A match, and we won our last 3 matches.. makes it more interesting..

I would personally prefer us to be an underdog, it feels a lot better, especially if we beat em

ye they didnt show last derby, and they didnt show the derby which we won 3-0... i never forgive them !

i saw 2 games of Lazio this season: Lazio - Fiorentina and Lazio - Lecce from Turkish channels but unfortunately Turksat satellite is unavailabele at the moment!

but i think Iran tv will show derby this time!

i think this is going to be our squades biggest test so far evern tho roma are in very bad form they are still a very dangrous team to play against so im not expecting a lot of goals from Lazio i this could be a 2-1/1-0 sorta match for both teams

The last couple of derby games Lazio were the ones that were in the lower half of the table with the riommers feeling powerful and thinking that they can win the scudetto. Physiologically this went in our favor.
So, a different situation this time around. I guess that they will want to make up for the terrible season they've been having. Of course, they want to try and avoid a situation with 300 rioma fans coming to Trigoria the next day and smashing some BMWs and audis.

I hear De Rossi has hurt his wrist in training and it is potentially broken.

I think if he missed the game it would give us a HUGE advantage but we will have to wait and see.

So much to be optimistic and yet apprehensive about.

Latest reports say he has not fractured his wrist. He should be a starter.

Their position in the table is over-rated. They are not that bad by a long shot. They have already played in their ten games Internazionale, Juventus, Napoli, Udinese, Genoa and Palermo. All teams in the top half of the table. We have only played Milan, Fiorentina, Napoli and Catania in eleven games. We have a harder run-in towards Christmas facing many top teams. After the seasons they have been having expectations have risen at Roma and their fans are not the patient kind. Not that it excuses the terrible season they having thus far. We must take advantadge of their physchlogical weakness. Mentally they are not champions and will never be. They have a glass mentality. After one setback they break easily and takes time to get back together. Cicinho howler against Bologna an example of that.

We must try to score first and contain their fullbacks. That way we can stop them from supporting their probable front pairing of Totti and Vucinic. Without width their attacks will become one dimensional and easy to stop since we will probably have three central midfidelders protecting our defence. Hopefully in front of their fans the onus will be on them to attack. This way we can use our fantastic counter-attacking ability to really hurt them. If we can score first we can really break them I feel. They will probably use a 442 formation. Spalletti changed from the 4231 against Chelsea. Pizarro is suspended so Taddei will fill in for him most likely. This means that there will be gap between their midfield and attack. So again it is imperitive to stop them from the wide positions.

PdL reports that in todays training, Rossi used the following 11:

Carrizo; Lichtsteiner, Siviglia, Rozehnal, Radu; Dabo, Ledesma, Brocchi; Pandev, Rocchi, Zarate

So it seems we're going with Za-Pa-Ro, and Foggia probably starting on the bench.
