Corvino likes Pandev and if Mutu is set to be banned on Monday, I have no doubt who the primary target for them will become. Kuzmanovic would be the makeweight.

At the start of the mercato we knew that Ledesma and Pandev need to be sold and solid centerback need to be bought. Now there is 48 hours left of the mercato and the situation is the same. It cant be so diffucult in my opinion. I hope that Miranda or someone of his level will arrive. But if the things stay in status quo, I think that Tare or his role needs to be questioned. Lotito's role will not change until he sells the club...

Latest news I've dug up:

-Barreto will arrive today but is unavailable until January.
-Zenith are at Formello for a final push for Pandev. Inter are interested and may make a deal now to take him in January for when Eto'o leaves for African Cup of Nations.
-Oleguer has been added to the list of Coloccini, Canini, Rever and Miranda for the CB position.
-Ledesma is being tracked by Atletico, Sevilla and Shalke 04.
-Pandev-Kuzmanovic is still a possibility due to Mutu's pending suspension.

Let's hope it's a busy few days.

I would imagine we would see a Kuzmanovic-Matuzalem partnership 'if' Ledesma leaves. Anyway, as long as Baronio continues to perform I'm happy for him to play.

i think kuzmanovic-pandev would be nice.. we need another midfielder to replace ledesma , at the same time we dont need another striker , so it's good to give them pandev and take kuzmanovic

The president of Sao Paulo claims only a great offer will do for Miranda. So he looks unlikley.

remember qualifiying for cl? well apparantely when the squad has a decent season, lotito tricks us all but decides not to invest. Hope he proves me wrong, but this mercatto is running out of time and nothing looks like coming through!

If we are genuinely looking at Miranda and Rever then I can only assume we are looking for someone to partner Cribari at the back. In my opinion, we don't need this great leader because in all honesty, our defence will improve now Rossi is gone but I think the experience, quality and general leadership Cribari gives is enough.

Not sure how many of you noticed a situation in the Supercoppa presentation where Eliseu was cast aside and left isolated and Emilson put his arm round the guy and took him off for a chat. I know they share a language but that's the kind of camaraderie our defence lacks with the likes of Siviglia leading the line.

I don't think a defender is the priority and I never have because as recent results have shown, when we actually deploy a midfield that tracks back, we can keep clean sheet and if Ledesma is reintroduced that can only improve. But I do agree with Valdanito, it will be a huge failure if we don't bring someone in as we had Bengtsson within our grasp.

By the way, if you check the official site, you will see new images of Pandev and Ledesma wearing the current jersey whereas De Silvestri, Rozehnal etc. are not. Interestingly, Makinwa and Firmani are not wearing new kits either; I'd take that as hint of what may be to come in the next few days...

Considering everyone is discussing the midfield in the match thread instead of our injury depleted defence says it all. Too easy to say "we're leaking goals so it's the defence." We're playing with three defensive midfielders week in week out because that's what it takes to compensate for Ledesma and for as long as he is out of the side, midfield should be priority in my opinion.

why repeat ourselves over and over again about the defence. i think everyone knows where most of us stand regarding that and why!

Unfortunately, I see a major problem in the fact that our youngest first team midfielder will turn 30 by the end of the season. We are short of legs and someone with a bit of grunt and quality could improve the side dramatically for me. That is all.

yeah, the midfield is a problem for me. And, as a consequence of Ledesma's absence, we are not seeing as much of Foggia, or really anything of Eliseu.

On the rumour front, Lotito has said Ledesma and Pandev have stated that they no longer want to be part of the project and thus that is the way it shall be.

He also said that the captain has said no reinforcements are necessary but the club will still look to bring in a player for a certain area (presumably defence).

except the non sign,we have a lot of no needing players....,i was excepting much better mercato after the good start.

I agree with Caxi that the most probable outcome of the mercato is a new contract for Ledesma. However your thoughts on the CB position leads me to belive that you´ve been hitting the crackpipe pretty hard lately

Kuzmanovic probably to Stuttgart, Ledesma's stay seems likelier by the minute.
