Interesting article! The only thing i didn't follow was the Ledesma case, what was your conclusion? That Ledesma will stay without signing a new contract, and Lotito knows that and gave Hernandes the contract Cristian wants? Please explain :)


I've just seen one game with Hernandes and you couldn't see much of him, so I just hope he had a bad day at work and that he will shine together with a reborn Zarate this season!

I personally think he is using the Hernanes contract to send a signal to Ledesma; the actual signal is open to interpretation. To offer Hernanes a contract with a built-in wage increase that would put him on the figure Ledesma has requested is a little suspicious. It's not like the increase puts Hernanes over the salary cap. It's not like the increase is performance-based (from what I can tell).

So why include the increase? It's a strange clause. Enough to make me think it could, and I stress could, be a message to Ledesma. Perhaps this is his replacement or perhaps it's just a little indicator that he is free to go.

Look at it from Cristian's perspective. Some new guy with a lot of talent is given a contract that puts him on marginally more (very marginally) than what Ledesma was offered. Even more infuriatingly, the new guy's contract rises to the salary Ledesma has asked for.

It just stinks of Lotito-style mind games to me.

Hernanes has become into one of the main players of the Tricolor Paulista (São Paulo) and the Brazilian football in the past years. He arrived at the club at the age of 15, in 2001. According to lotito Cribari, Bizzarri, Scaloni, Firmani, Kozak, Correa, Artipoli e Quadri should leave lazio.... I was convinced kozak was staying.

He is also saying that Ledesma and Hernanes would be a perfect pair but if Ledesma doesnt agree to a new deal, he wont open negotiations again...

Great news! I'm glad that we signed Hernanes and I hope that Ledesma extends his contract with the club. I also hope that Kozak does stay because he showed he has potential.

Guys, I'm really excited about the prospect of signing Boateng. He's a very different player to the other top midfielders that we have. If Lotito can keep Ledesma and bring Boateng in along with Hernanes, we go from having one of the worst midfields in Serie A to one of the best. Yes, he has a controversial personality, but IMO all successful teams need some larger than life personality.

On a side note, if Firmani leaves Lazio, then I hope Perpetuini stays (or vice-versa). They're both Roman, die-hard Lazio fans and they play a similar role. There's only really room for one at the club, but I believe keeping one of them is necessary.

Personally, I don't care for Almeida. I'd rather spend that money on Boateng (or Jose Sosa from Bayern) and keep Kozak. The only 4th striker we've been linked with that I'd consider being worth the money is Eder, but then he isn't the target man type that we need.

He's not bad but if we start looking at every player who scores 2,3 goals in a game we wont be able to choose until next year.

The key with the Hernanes signing is I think all of us can sit and say Kolarov won't be missed much. We have bought creativity and goals for a different area and now the squad is looking stronger than last season.

Reja says we need to finish Top 8. As it stands, we do...or else he has to go.

This is a GREAT signing! Exactly what we need. A talented young player who is a bit off the radar who can bring a lot to our club. The money seems a bit much for the time being, but I'm okay with. I'm super excited to see him on the pitch. Creative and a solid touch. Well done, Lotito.

Cleo from Partizan Belgrade? He's OK striker, but he's not classic target man like Almeida. It's his second season in Partizan, he played 1 season for Red Star Belgrade before. He's OK, and most likely he will stay if Partizan manage to advance to CL group stage - if not, he will be sold. Anyway, I don't think we need him.

It appears to be a maximum of 13.5mil with an initial 10mil. Now, whether that 10mil is paid in installments or in full I can't tell and I don't know if the extra 3.5mil is performance-based or not. And I don't know because there is no secure source.

If Boateng comes and Ledesma stays, then our ambitions have to be set really high. I would seriously recommend we forget about Almeida and bring in either Boateng, Carmona or Sosa from Bayern. A top class midfield would send us a very long way.

it seems Milan are after Boateng now as well. I don't get it, he doesn't seem that good does he?

He diden´t suck at Pompey, and he diden´t get the chance at Spurs with only a few games, but still you guys are right. Boateng is nothing for us, not as a person or player.

If Boateng comes, our club will need several treatments of chemotherapy. The man is a fucking cancer. I really dont want him. We have a fresh start with the Pandev/courts saga gone, Reja on board, a good mercato and the Ledesma issue looking like its getting sorted. We need to rebuild our club with a united and strong player culture. we do not need egotistical individuals like Boateng.
