Loving the fact that his haters are keeping quiet these days. Anybody who criticises Mauri as a footballer really doesn't know what they're talking about. One of the most talented guys in the team, lack of confidence is his only problem.
Kudos to Reja for keeping the faith. r u serious ? - if you r, i bet you don't watch Lazio or football. and he was good last night but to say that he was "great" 3 times in a row OMG....Sneijder from Inter or Diego from Juve, Pastore from Palermo... - aren't great last 3 games but they play much more good than Mauri...do you know what job should do Mauri...do you know how many points we lost this year mostly by his fold... and im not Mauri hater - i watch football. ..and i don't read the game - i watch it 90min. Sneijder, Diego and Pastore are world class; levels above anything we currently possess. I'm not saying he is world class but simply that he is deserving of a starting place and is currently proving it. He was one of many who was fucked around by Rossi, he was one of many who didn't play well under Ballardini but he is one of few who are actually dragging us out of this relegation dogfight. I'm cutting him some slack.

Zoran, fact is, our whole midfield has been pathetic, to pin it on Stefano is ridiculous. He has been the best out of a very ordinary bunch, more so in the run home this season. If you've been watching our last 270 minutes, he has been one of the main reasons we have secured 7 priceless points in this important strech of games. If dont agree hes been our B.O.G, then maybe you should start reading the game, because you must be watching it with a blindfold.

I'm cutting him some slack. For the most part I agree, but how the hell was Stefano "fucked around by Rossi"?? Rossi gave him chance after chance for him to replicate that first season form and he never got close to it. If anything, Rossi had Mauri as a titolare fisso for far too long.

| Worthy of debate.
I really don't think Rossi kept the faith long enough, or perhaps more to the point, didn't give him enough chances to rediscover his form. We both agree that Mauri is a confidence player, I just don't think Rossi did enough to help him through his bad spells. Last two seasons Stefano was poor and I can admit that but then, our league positions were just as bad. Mauri was left out way too often for me, when he got his chance, he often delivered (Torino in the Coppa last season sticks out in my mind). Then, in no time at all, sometimes the next game, he was dropped.
Reja has stuck with him and now we are reaping the dividends of his confidence. Stefano has had two bad seasons in his whole career for me and they are probably the two seasons where he played his fewest games. That strikes a chord with me.

| game against torino in coppa last year shows that he could be useful a lot if we use him in right position(not as the trequartista or playmaker). i think that he had some personal problems(my opinion)and not the problems of nonunderstanding this game. not a world class player, but simply the player that we can used for one half,or in games against teams like chievo, calgiari etc(if we get some world class player) | |

| Still it's not official, the parties will sit down and negotiate the terms in the next few days. But I believe it to be true.
And I agree with Caxi that it's a good thing. It's not easy to say a lot of good about Stefano's performances in this season, but nothing good can be said about the team as a whole. His form is on the rise and we all see what a difference he can make when he's playing well.
Another thing, and I believe this is very important, he's very reliable and available. Hardly ever injured, never gets a red card (I looked thrugh some stats in the last few seasons, every season he plays 25-30 matches in the league + more matches in other competitions).
In fact, he joined in 2006, and if stats on transfermarkt don't lie he played 109 Serie A matches for us so far.
Which brings me to my point. Fact is it will take Matuzalem and Meghni combined 10 seasons to accumulate that much playing time. Meaning that it's injury prone unrelieable deadweights who are supposed to go, not players like Mauri.
Come summer, give Mauri an extension, get rid of Baronio/Matuzalem/Meghni/Scaloni/Eliseu/Htzlperger and get at least 2 quality midfielders.

| We are in the relegation zone because of his 2/3 season which he played like a ghost and missed sitters one by one. | |

Yeah...good call. We're in the relegation zone because of one player's errors. Do you actually watch Lazio or just bag the same players every week???. Gets old man. Everyone has players they dont particularly like but they try and look at things objectively. Porco cane.

| I have seen almost all the games this season and im not saying its only his fault but he has been one of the worst ones this season UNTIL he woke up and started to play like a average player....im happy for that and if lotito will be the president then he will be the "playmaker" next season as well. So i have to pray this guy has found himself again and continues it. But just dont be too tolerant....lets see will he continue his good form for a longer period (atlest a season). If now somebody asks you which one would you prefer Foggia or Mauri then i bet everyone says mauri. If Reja woke Mauri up then do the same with Zarate too please.......... | |

Again in this match, he's been the key to get us the points, should we have went 2 nill behind in half time I think it would have been quite impossible to have a chance to take the 3 points and he done it with a great goal! Well done Mauri, we want more of this, you makes us look like a different team when you're on form!

| Lazio midfielder Stefano Mauri is on the verge of signing a contract extension, which will keep him at the Rome-based club until June 2015.
The former Brescia and Udinese midfielder will be 35 when his extension will expire, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
Aquile president Claudio Lotito and Mauri's agent Tiziano Gonzaga, have been in contract negotations since the start of the season over the 30-year-old.
Mauri was instrumental in keeping the side from relegation this season, scoring three goals and providing many opportunities for team-mates to score.
Let me laugh!!!!As i see this fool hasnt extended yet.....i really hope he will be sold to Serie-B. But yet again....hes one of lotidiots "sons".
