Comparing Silva to Mauri? Anyways...7mil...a lo of money for a player that hasnt been good for us for a while now. He has potential, but he hasnt showed it with us for a while now...

goal.com are fine in my opinion, they sometimes twist headlines to get you to read but their information is generally accurate because it is taken from reliable sourches.

Just felt like commenting that Stefano has had a good start to the season and if he keeps this up, we'll have an extra quality player this season. Daje Mauri.

Well Said Testa.
He is close to a contract renewal. Great news.
Always has been a favourite of mine. He's not everybodys cup of tea how-ever.

I've always liked the guy and felt that if the coach gave him more playing time and belief, then Stefano could regain the brilliant form he had in season 2006/07. Ballardini clearly has faith in Stefano and that's great to see.
Good news for the renewal in my opinion but it's also kind of disappointing reading that Mauri is the only one being offered a new contract. I heard Muslera will also discuss his contract with Lotito soon which is terrific - but what about players like Kolarov and Diakite? Haven't heard much about them and they are key to Lazio's future success.

Diakite' signed a new contract last year. He and Kolarov both have long deals that expire in 2012/3. No issues there (although I'd still renew Kolarov's within the next 12 months).
Mauri tends to be a very hot and cold player. He either rips up and plays out of his skin, or he barely touches the ball. Inconsistency has been his problem. Ballardini seems to be bringing his consistency back, and that will make him a real asset.

Nice to read that Mauri wants to extend. He had become confidence again under Ballardini.
I expect that Mauri will be on the same level like the season when we reached the CL. So - what I think - Mauri should play again as trequartista, and Matuzalem should play behind. I think that Mauri is the better one in the Offensive playing and Matu is better in the defence.

It is typical that he will get a new contract and end up as the Manfre/Inzaghi etc. deadwood of 2011-14. Much promise when we signed him after the loan, he played well as a left midfielder but he has steadily gone backwards and is no way a trequartista or deep lying forward like Balla seems to think.
It is a well known observation in football that when a players legs have gone he is no longer able to play at the top level. I think Mauri's time is up, he can't even stand up in the area.

Well Lotito tied him down which might work for both parties. Mauri keeps being in a top club, Lotito has a loyal player who is getting used to coming in from the bench. Win-win for both of them, a loss for the fans.
This will only make sense if we get those quality midfielders we desperately need. Then ok. But if we don't and on top of that we sell Kolarov and Mauri fills his place then f*ck.

They used to say that Milan was a retirement house than what about us... we're much worse.. Makinwa, Bonetto, Siviglia, Manfredini, MAURI, Baronius, Belleri, Artipoli, Quadri, Correa, Inzaghi. They're all players with no future and if they hadnt had a contract they would either play for free or retire. How they get their contracts renewed is beyond me, they're not even Serie B standard and they still manage to get some time on the pitch. We deserve to go to Serie B for being such utter idiots. We should send Makinwa back to Nigeria and Menfredini back to Ivory Coast where he can take his gangsta car. Bonetto, Siviglia Mauri,Baronius,Belleri and Inzaghi would be great assets to clean the toilets for Lotito. Artipoli, Quadri and Correa im not going to comment on since they should have never even wore our shirt let alone being here for years.
