PostSubject: Fantasy Premier League   Fantasy Premier League EmptySat Aug 09, 2008 6:51 pm

I know I wasn't the first to suggest this, but there is now a Laziofever league at Fantasy Premier League and currently we have 6 teams in it.

I think we need a separate topic so we can have a little debate over the season.

Also, if you're interested, sign up, you have less than a week to be ready for the new season, it would be nice if we could get at least 10 teams.

Can everybody who has joined so far state their team name here? That way I can compile a table for everyone to follow.

My team: Laziofever's Finest

I've just joined the league. My team is called "Lepi" Very Happy

I do have some doubts regarding my team: I don't know wether to pick Petrov, Modric, Downing, Kranjcar, Arteta, Jenas or A Young. They cost more or less the same. What do you guys think?

In defense I'm split between between Sagna, Bosingwa and Carvalho?

I do have Petrov Bobbi. Still, I'm surprised to see that more than 15% of players have chosen Modric. The guy is talented but with no premier league experience so Petrov or Downing seem to be the more logical choice.

If Petrov doesn't perform, I'll just swap him for Jenas or someone else. It's easy in the fantasy world of football. It's not like I have Baronio to get rid off... Wink

I have both Petrov and Arteta in my team (for now). They are the most important players in their teams, but I fear their teams could have bad seasons.

Downing is not fantastic, but always consistent.

Kranjcar is a great little player.

Jenas is good when Spurs are good but I don't know how much he will play.

Modric is brilliant, I just wonder how well he will adapt to the PL.

A Young is also in my team, great talent, difficult to know if he will be as good as last season though.

Defensively, I'd take Sagna.

Hope this helps make your decision easier.

As Caxi said, you can change all you want before the start of the season (Saturday).

I've just read that Nasri is out injured. Bosingwa is doubtful for the first game but I've bought him. He's a great right back, Scolari knows all about him from his time he was head coach of Portugal, Chelsea have paid a lot of money to get him. I'll put him on the bench for the first game. The guy costs only 6.0 and believe he's worth the gamble.

I'm not sure wether to put my money on Lampard or Torres...

I haven't done this one either treq, but I assume that the values stay the same. I did the Euro 2008 version though and my team came in the Top 500 (out of about 450,000 teams, mainly because I had Villa in my team from day one Very Happy ). It takes a lot of luck, but if you spend time on it, you can do really well because the vast majority of people change their sides once in a blue moon. This one is different to the Euros because there are so many more matchdays, so as long as you stay with the leaders, you have a chance of winning.

The secret to it all is that you read the rules/scoring and keep up to date with who is injured, who the opponents are, who is in and out of form and you can definitely come amongst the frontrunners. I think we could have a highly competitive league here.

Yes, players' value change. If a player starts playing really well on the pitch (making assist and scoring goals) and starts collecting a lot of points and a lot of people start buying him his value will go up. The value can not go up or down by no more than 0,1 per day. At the beginning of last season C Ronaldo cost 12.0 and at the end of the season his value was close to 14.0.

He had a slight injury, that's why he didn't start the game against Standard Liege but I think that Stevie G will be back and ready for the Sunderland game.

I'm still split between Petrov, Modric and Kranjcar.

I have some doubts concerning keepers. I don't know wether to take Reina, Chech or Van der Saar. They all cost the same (6.0) Who are first choice goalkeepers in your teams?

I'd wait on Modric if I were you, he may need a few games to get acclimated to the league. Petrov, out of those three, is the one sure bet, if there is one. Kranjcar's not a bad player, but I wouldn't say his worth always shows up as points in a fantasy league.

Keeper? I had to go with my comrade Tim Howard.

the doctors told the club that they should avoid playing him against Standard Liege if they wanted him for Saturday...I think he was brought on for 10 minutes or so, He should be ok.

Petrov is a sure bet but Man City lost to FC Midtjylland last night...Petrov may perform but I have doubts about his team.

I have David James as my GK and Mark Schwarzer as my 2nd choice.

Ashton scored both of West Ham's goals today.... I had him in my team but swapped him for Richards of WBA :( bad call!

Torres scored Very Happy and whats happening with Berbatov? He only came on in the 2nd half.... is it because he is sure to leave very soon to ManUtd most likely?

not sure, but i have him on my team as well, so i'd like the situation to be sorted out sooner rather than later. no matter where he ends up he still seems like a sure bet to me.

members: I'll post an FPL scoreboard here at the end of each matchday but I need you to post your team name on this topic, if you haven't already. I want to do a scoreboard here, but I'm not going to use your full names, just the LF nicknames...
