| Was just reading something about the Macheda issue.... Lazio's bitter complaints echo those of Parma who, after losing Giuseppe Rossi to United and Arturo Lupoli to Arsenal in the summer of 2004, had to go to Uefa arbitration just to get transfer fees. Italian clubs' general disinclination to offer contracts until boys are 18 or 19 has made this a recurrent theme in the country, from where an estimated 20 stars have been lost in the same way in recent years. The outcry following Macheda's departure prompted Lazio to offer four youngsters immediate pro contracts, an unusual move. The exodus goes on, though, with Davide Petrucci – described in his homeland as "the new Francesco Totti" – following Macheda to Old Trafford from Roma last July. An offer to make his father a groundsman helped to sway Petrucci's decision, as did a considerably more lucrative contract than the one Roma offered. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/lazio-president-slams-united-for-shameful-poaching-of-macheda-1664339.htmlDoes that mean Lazio might get some sort of transfer fee? And did Lotito really offer contracts to 4 youngsters within the last few hours? If so - to whom? | |

| we lost Macheda to MU... so what? so many other "Macheda"s were trying to enter into Lazio first squad but abandoned... I was disgusted by ManU's and english club's attitude which stealing boys from all over Italy...
but thanks to them Italian squad can have more talented options in the future and kudos to Sir Alex who was smart and brave to put a "green" roman youngster into a really important premier league game.... I'm really wondering why in the other side of the world there is a coach who abandoning many similar talents that exist in his team.... why on earth Delio won't start using Mendicino, Tuia, Cinelli etc in a lazio game even just for a moment... and he should start using Diakite instead of Siviglia

Exactly right, you have to give youth a chance, look at Santon at Inter. Diakite made mistakes and was dropped. Siviglia made mistakes and was er, well Rossi kept playing him. It is this inconsistant approach in management that will probably influence more youth to go elsewhere. We may still make Europe in the coppa, but we wont in the league so after the derby wouldd be the perfect time for Mendicino, Tuia etc to get some playing time and experience.

| Absolutely agree. Season for us almost over, why every time use Siviglia when even child knows that we'll lose. Rossi very nervous and don't know what to do. Coz season began for him very lucky and he still believes that he can do something. But, his time is over, thanks him for everything, he did great job with Lazio, i don't deny this, but we need changes to develop. He must use youngsters. Macheda proved that even 17 years old can change the game. So why Mendicino can't? About the coach replacement, Mazzari, i think would great replacement. | |

| I really hope that we play our youngsters. You can bet on you're life that they will play with their hearts. They could show a thing or two to our first team about Non Mollare Mai. | |

I remember back in the days when Rossi was employed, everyone was talking about his greatness in promoting and encouraging young players and make them mature. We have seen very little of this, I must say...or maybe our youngsters are just far from being better than the guys that we have in the squad..?

Exactly right, they would fight for their opportunity. This would or should have a knock on effect on the older players as well, forcing them to work harder and show more heart to win back or retain their place.

| This is not a rumour regarding Lazio but I just read that Juventus have parted with Jorge Andrade by terminating his contract meaning he is free to join any club as a free agent. I've liked this guy since his Deportivo days. He is quite versatile - can play as a wing back, wide midfielder and saw a few games with him as a central defender and did well. Also was a Portuguese international.
Just a thought, but don't know how much Lotito would be interested and above all, if Lazio really need a player like him here at the moment or in the summer?

The've parted with him due to a consistent injury Andrade has, and he's not able to get rid of it any soon i think. Nobody knows when he can play soccer again?

Yeah I agree, give Mendicino and Tuia a decent amount of playing time between now and the end of the season. Diakite also. It will give them some decent experience before next season begins.

Dont want to sound negative but I think Andrade's career is pretty much finished.

Dont want to sound negative but I think Andrade's career is pretty much finished. He was seriously injured time and time again. Just very, very unfortunate. While he was at Deportivo he was one of the best defenders in Spain no doubt. But I too think his career may be finished which is a shame. I hope I'm wrong.

- Mazzarri linked with Lazio
Monday 6 April, 2009 Sampdoria Coach Walter Mazzarri is being linked with a move to Lazio this summer, as Claudio Lotito loses patience with Delio Rossi.
Lotito publicly expressed his anger at the way the Biancocelesti are performing this morning and threatened not to pay the players' wages.
Lazio started the season in excellent fashion, scoring lots of goals and winning three of their first four games.
Since then, though, they have slumped, falling to ninth in the table after a run of three straight defeats, the most recent coming against Siena on Sunday.
The Italian Press are now “99 per cent” certain Lotito has chosen Mazzarri to replace Delio Rossi at the end of the season.
Mazzarri is widely regarded as one of the brightest minds in Italian football after helping Reggina survive despite an 11-point penalty in 2007.
He has been at Sampdoria since the start of last season and led them into Europe at the first attempt. The Blucerchiati are also in the semi-finals of this year's Coppa Italia.
Tempting Mazzarri away from Sampdoria will be difficult, though, as he still has one year to run on his contract there.
The 47-year-old is also believed to want reassurances that key players like Goran Pandev and Cristian Ledesma will still be at Lazio next season.
Both players have been linked with moves away from Lazio this summer and are still busy negotiating new contracts with the Biancocelesti.
