The Italian club were among the first to state their desire to land the 26-year-old winger, president Lotito saying that he would aid Lazio's charge back to the Champions League.

But with Barcelona allegedly interested, too, Boca president Pedro Pompilio believes that Rodrigo is just as likely Camp Nou than the Stadio Olimpico.

He told the press, "I know, via one of his agents and his father, that Barcelona had held a brief meeting about him.

"In general, when clubs target an important player, they want to know first if he's willing to join and how much he wants to earn. After that, they make an offer."

In saying this, Pompilio was apparently hinting that, although Barcelona have yet to make an offer, they are merely biding their time before matching the $18m (€11.6m) bid made by Lazio.


can't see a player coming to Lazio when Barca are after him....but it's good to know Lotito has the idea of spending big money this summer

No Lotito! He wants Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink from Celtic, he would cost 7m. I am a follower of Celtic, living in Glasgow, but Hesselink didn't even finish top of Celtic's scoring charts, never mind near the top of the SPL.

Don't get me wrong he's not bad but I remember a certain Marco Negri from Vicenza, hadn't scored, went to Rangers and scored 35 goals in a season, went back to Italy and never scored. This is the difference between Serie A and SPL, Hesselink wouldn't cut it in Serie A! 7m would be better spent elsewhere.

I don't know where people have got this idea that Amoruso is official. It says on Wikipedia he is Lazio's player, but until he is unveiled at a press conference or the media get hold of some document, he is not ours. Same with Radu.

We have one player so far, that is Rozehnal and if we get enough money for him, he will be sold, Rozehnal could be one of Lotito's best buys.

The delays over Behrami's proposed transfer suggests to me he wants to stay and the only transfer rumour I believe is Fornaroli's.

Wikipedia? I can change things in that site too so, it dousen't mean that it is official beacuse it says in wikipedia that he is a Lazio player.

I think maybe Lotito is shopping around for the best deals this summer. I mean, I think we have reached an agreement with Reggina for Amoruso and maybe a deal with Boca for Palacio, but perhaps we are waiting to see how much we can get Fornaroli for. It seems to me that Lotito is negotiating fees but not contracts.

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink was never playing for Feyenoord...
He is a very good player...here are his numbers:
1996-2001 FC Twente 160 (64)
2001-2006 PSV Eindhoven 187 (90)
2006-Present Celtic 49 (27)

I would take him, but not for 7 millions...maybe 3-4 or so...he could be better than Amoruso...

Lazio chief Claudio Lotito has admitted that he is considering a move for Celtic’s Dutch striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.

The capital club were wretched last term as they languished in the bottom half of the table just a year after they finished third.

Former Reggina revelation Rolando Bianchi was brought in on loan in January, but he flopped, leaving Lotito to look elsewhere for reinforcements to his front line of Tommaso Rocchi and Goran Pandev.

“Vennegoor of Hesselink is a player we rate highly,” Lotito told the Daily Record.

“We have been watching him closely for a while. His strength is a real attribute and he has a lot of European experience.

“He is a player who we are interested in without a doubt, but it depends on what kind of transfer fee Celtic would ask for. Anything beyond £5.5m is out of our range.”

Lazio are also being linked with Espanyol midfielder Pablo Zalayeta and Palermo hitman Edison Cavani.

Dutch footballers are playing great anywhere in the world!! Serie A is not excluded!

Vennegoor is playing in Euro 2008 for Dutch right now, so he must be still on a right form!

This will be a great signing if the price is not so high considering he will be 30 on November.

for me 4 mil euro is a maximum price for him.

I watch Hesselink every week, he misses alot of chances and that's against teams like Dundee Utd and Hearts! He is good in the air but I defo wouldn't pay more than 4m for him.

He is better than Tare, Vignaroli, and Amoruso.

The difference with it now is, apparently Lazio want Foggia, judging by Foggia's words, Foggia wants Lazio, so where is the problem???

Belgian media is linking Mudingayi to Sampdoria or Fulham, but Lotito is asking 12.000.000 € for him.

And Lotittina said last year that he didn't wanted Nesta back cuz he don't want old players in Lazio. And we extednt with Ballota and sign Amoruso and want this old duch man. Lair, lair!

we did not extend with Ballotta.
Venegoor of Hesselink is 30, e has 3-4 years to play and he is a goal scorer.
and we cannot afford Nesta, is not that Lotito does not want him back - he has 4 millions per year salary.
