Love it Paz!
Quote from Mourinho:“Everybody saw it, we could comfortably have won 3-1 today. Before Lazio took the lead, we had 12 or 14 clear cut chances.
“They focused on defence and had luck on their side, then only really played in the final stages. The crowd did not appreciate this approach either, but this is football.”
Arrogant prick. Don't know what match he was watching....UNLUCKY Merdinho!

Wow, what a win and against a top side who had a very very strong side out. Certainly some massive positives individually, Muslera looks absolutely superb and Matuzalem did well also. Good to see Baronio covering Ledesma and doing himself proud, but that is for me is all it was regards him. I certainly don't see him as a direct replacement for Cristian, and am somewhat dissapointed that Foggia was not worked into the side. I hope that is not a sign of things to come. But none the less, great win.

Not much to say, great result, great start to the season; people will inevitably dismiss it as a friendly but it's silverware that both sides came to win and we were 'lucky' enough to prevail.
First things first, Muslera was unbelievable. Consistently stopping everything that came his way, could do nothing about the goal, scintillating stuff. Diakite' had a decent game, there's still much improvement in him but I thought he dealt with it well. Whatever system we opt for, one thing should be clear; Kolarov and Lichtsteiner will have to absorb much more pressure this season if Ledesma doesn't feature and while they stuggled slightly today, it was Inter after all. I think Baronio was there to cut out any balls that may be fed to the feet of Eto'o or Milito. Even if we change our system, there are still going to be games where we have to deploy a deep midfielder and I think Roberto showed today that, if necessary, he can be called upon. His passing was poor though. Mauri did nothing except for an exquisite pass to Rocchi and herein lies his problem; one or two flashes of genius a game but one of the poorest performers almost every time he features. Dabo looked off the pace, harsh to blame him for the goal but he did panic. Rocchi looked sharp from early on in the game, Zarate doesn't look quite as sharp and needs a few more games. All in all, some things need work, some things need games. I think Matuzalem was wisely played more as a midfielder than a trequartista and although his goal is scrappy, it is good to see him in positions like that. We need more goals and assists from midfield and he looks like he can provide them.
I don't think we were outplayed, I just think Inter were forced to resort to plan B and while Lucio got his head on a lot of corners and Inter had quite a few shots, I think we made it awkward for them. There is one thing though that I do feel Ballardini has to do; get Siviglia out...

Agree about your comments on Mauri totally. Maybe Baronio can do a job, and when we have three competitions we need depth. But, we also need Ledesma..

Yeah, I definitely agree. I think midfield-wise we need a right-footed midfielder with a bit of cut and thrust, perhaps a bit of height too that could play alongside Matuzalem but also fill in for Brocchi. Dabo and Mauri cover the left side of centre midfield well but Brocchi, as good as he can be, is potentially a liability.
As for defence, we just need to bring back Stendardo and find a player significantly better than Siviglia. I think we are then ready.

Great post-match comments from the president, the coach and the captain.
Lotito took a swipe at Mourinho, indicating that someone had to learn how to lose. Mourinho was highly disrespectful towards us but what else would you expect?
Ballardini made it clear that we intended to play with pace but that Inter made it difficult for us. From a combination of comments, our plan was obviously to defend as a unit and hit Inter on the counter.
Rocchi made a nice dig by saying the team that wins is always the best team before going on to say Muslera was his man of the match.

Congratulations all! It was a great result. Now we are the champion of Italy. Muslera was the best player yesterday, but I didn’t see any kind of improvement in our defence!

I think it's clear from the presentation alone that there is a greater spirit between this bunch of players and the players of recent years. I don't know how much of that can be attributed to the new coach or even the decision to leave the 'dissidenti' at home but either way, something has improved dramatically. It seems after all our frustrations regarding the mercato and the behaviour of certain individuals, it hasn't affected the players much.
I have to give credit to everybody at the club for that.
