It is important and we were missing out in the midfield but we lost more points due to terrible defending than to a poor midfield.
And another thing - Kolarov and Lichtsteiner have been transformed into midfielders lately. And when meghni comes back we will have :
1 Licht 2 Kolarov 3 Baronio 4 Brocchi 5 Mauri 6 Dabo 7 Matuzalem 8 Mauri 9 Meghni 10 Foggia 11 Hitzlspeger 12 Golasa 13 Del Nero and maybe 14 Ederson and 15 Eguren.
15 midfielders. I don't think even Inter has as many.

Well, I would no longer use Lichti as a midfielder now and from the rest of the 15 "midfielders" I would not even use one of the two Mauris and I think that Del Nero, Baronius and Dabo hardly will get their playing time and Foggia and Meghni are better subtitutes for me, no starters...and what about Eguren, I thought he didn't pass his medical?!
I don't see any problems with the amount of midfielders right now...and I don't think they are too many...

Has any of the potential transfers actually been pulled through today? Or is it the same situation as 12 hours ago?

What we have now Cash is an official confirmation for Hitzlsberger and a picture of Golasa having a medical, so I guess these two passed today....
Ederson still stuck, Ledesma too, as well as Eguren

Yeah I wrote Mauri twice but I omitted Firmani. So even if we return Licht and Kolarov to defense and Eguren goes back to Villareal then it's 12, which leaves 4 starters and 4 substitutions and 4 substitutions for the first 4 substitutions. And there's also Manfredini who doesn't deserve a mention and Perpetuini who was loaned out to Crotone, plus the primavera kids who will want a chance next year or the year after that. Whether we need them or whether they play or not does not change the fact that they all train with the team and the coach has to rotate and most importantly all of them are getting a salary.

It would be really good midfielders line-up in Lazio if Hitz (, Eguren) & Ederson join us.
Put both Foggia & Ederson in the front of the pitch, & give them freedom to destroying the opponent's defence, & leave very big space for our strikers. Hitzpelger can used to come from behind, & strikes long shots. Baronio or Matuzalem are used to control pace of the game, & Dabo, Brocchi, Firmani for dirty jobs in front of defenders.

Is Inter really desperate to bring another midfielder ? If it is, Lotito must wait until Inter offering 10 m plus Rene Krhin
if it is not, Tare as Director of Sport's Lazio should give advice to Lotito, if Ledesma is really worth for that value. We can't sell him at higher value since he is not featured in 1st team apperance since 6 months ago.

Well Sile I'd say that out of those you wrote only Brocchi and Baronios deliver. Dabo sucks, Mauri too, Licht, Kola and Del Nero are defenders, and probably Eguren is not coming.
plus we can keep Ledesma no need to sell if he can be put back in the squad

Pretty boy
He even scored for Maccabi against RB Salzburg so he was predestined for us.

Good transfers I think. Just wonder why does the bastard has to wait until the last day and not let these players adapt sooner.
Rather than Ederson I still hope for a better defender.
Wow....2 regular Internationals. We haven't had those in such a long time now. I hope the administrators don't forget how to arrange paperwork when these players need to play for their countries.

We need to get rid of Makinwa so we can get Ederson and also because we want a 30yr old defender Andre Dias from Sao Paolo and Makinwa could cause problems. Let him go for free, what does it matter the 600,ooo you can get for him at most....
Also Baronio is close to going to Bologna, after tonight's "performance" I will not miss him that much.

Quote :
Management at Maccabi Haifa was stunned yesterday after learning that its 18-year-old prodigy, midfielder Eyal Golasa, had secretly flown to Italy and signed a contract with Italian Serie A side Lazio.
Golasa agreed to terms on a four-year deal worth 350,000 euros per season. As part of the deal his twin brother Oral will join the club's youth squad.
On learning of Golasa's trip Haifa officials were reviewing their legal options.
"The club regards the midfielder's behavior with gravity," the team said in a statement. "The player has a binding agreement with the club. This case will be handled by the team's top legal advisor."
Members of Golasa's inner circle acknowledge that the move may have been inconsiderate, but it was nonetheless "legitimate". Golasa's family claims that the player was promised a new contract once he reached 18 years of age, and that the club failed to deliver.
"Any contract with the club thus has no validity and he is free for any club that wants him," said one Golasa insider.
According to the terms of his existing Maccabi arrangement, Golasa is listed as a youth player.
Attached to this document is an undertaking that he was to sign on turning 18, which was to activate a new contract binding him to the senior club.
That commitment was never signed.
"There is an agreement," a Haifa official said. "It stipulates that Golasa is to sign it at age 18 and to this day the player has not signed. There is an agreement that bears the signature of his parents, as his legal guardians."
Haifa officials felt cheated and swindled. They were caught unawares by Golasa's decision. In hindsight, management wishes it had been less complacent and insisted that Golasa sign the contract once he turned 18 years of age.
"Somebody apparently fell asleep at the wheel and didn't think the player would slip through their fingers," a team official said. "Now they are liable to find out that they lost one of the best talents that came up through their system, all for a lousy sum of money."
In recent months, Haifa officials held talks with family representatives regarding Golasa's future with the club. Golasa's mother, Mira, said the club offered her son a three-year contract worth NIS 1 million, an offer which they turned down.
The family did not present a counter-offer and the matter was left.
Maccabi Haifa has notified the family that it intends to sue for $400,000, which is the signing bonus the club awarded Golasa for the transfer from his youth club.
This dispute could well be headed to arbitration with Haifa filing a grievance with UEFA, claiming that Golasa's contract with Lazio is illegal.
Can we ever do something without controversy?

ESCLUSIVA - Il Lione accetta l'offerta della Lazio, ora dipende tutto da Makinwa ... give him some money for a train ticket and send him somewhere
ESCLUSIVA – Ledesma, Lotito rifiuta l'ultima offerta e l'Inter prende Simplicio. D'Ippolito: "Lotito doveva accettare gli 8,5 milioni offerti, ora è difficile…Cristian è distrutto, a fine anno va via a zero euro con l'art.17" ... does it mean lotito rejected the final offer and dick'polito is threatening us with article 17 ?
