| I know nothing about him but we were linked with him a month ago when he said he and Lazio were in negotiations.
I thought it was dead in the water until now.

| Seems we are lining up deals for a bunch of midfielders...we could have a guessing game on how many we actually sign. | |

Elano a bit pricey I guess.. I don't think Lotito would spend more money on another midfielder, if we were to sign him, it would be a half year loan with option to buy.

| If we can offload Mauri, Mutarelli and Manfredini then ok take Elano.
I also don´t see the point of keeping meghni if he has a chronic injury.

| Today's news: Lotito is interested in Dubarbier of CFR Cluj. However, it is said that he doesn't want Bertolo at Lazio so no deal for him will be concluded. Makinwa is certain to leave. Chievo talks are progressing, however it is thought that Chievo only want him on loan for the rest of the season but Lotito is determined to get some cash out of any deal. Something will be done about Berni and Belleri. Several lower division clubs want Mendicino but Rossi demands that he stays and he is line to debut later in the season. Firmani and Manfredini will stay. All outgoing transfers are likely to be followed with someone being brought in (except Makinwa's I think) I'm rounding all this up on the blog: http://lazio.theoffside.com Check that later if you want links to sources. | |

Foggia/Dubarbier can play either wing. I reckon we'll see him in the Mauri role should he come. I haven't seen much of him but for those of you who have, does he normally play right wing week in week out?

imo Dubarbier is not good enough for Lazio... and we need a playmaker or an AMC

| Next player we're linked with is a good rumour.
Damian Escudero, 21 yr old, plays for Valladolid, creative-type that wears the number 10, grew up playing alongside Zarate at Velez so they would already have gelled together.
Real Madrid are also interested so that means he has some real quality but cause they already have a full squad, too many infact, they almost certainly won't get him.
This IMO would be a better signing than Elano. Cheaper, younger, knows Zarate well, oh and he has a Portuguese EU passport so wont take up a non-EU signing which there is a maximum of 2 per year.
hope something happens with this one

| First real indications have emerged today that Cribari could leave the club. Destination? Sampdoria is possible. lazialita.com
would be foolish to sell him I reckon. he loves the club and he's a decent defender, perhaps the best we have.
I also read somewhere that Donati may come to Lazio.

| Tare: Rocchi not for sale Tuesday 30 December, 2008 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lazio director Igli Tare has claimed that Tommaso Rocchi will not be leaving the Biancocelesti in the near future. Tare, who played the last years of his career for Lazio, highlighted the importance of the experienced striker in the team. “Rocchi will stay at Lazio because he is our captain. He is not for sale now and won't be in the future,” assured the Albanian. “Goran Pandev is another important player for our project.” The Biancocelesti lie seventh in the table and have so far impressed. Their top scorer Mauro Zarate has been one of this year's Serie A revelations. “Lazio are counting a lot on him. He is showing all his potential in the Italian championship, which is no doubt one of the best in the world,” concluded Tare. Meanwhile, Emilson Cribari should also remain with them, although the player's agent is staying cautious. “We are waiting for the club to let us know about the future,” said Davide Torchia. “There are some teams interested and the player would only like to stay if he feels the faith of the Board and the Coach. “He could extend his contract but for now that is not up to us,” the Brazilian defender's representative concluded. The Capitolini are currently on holiday and will resume their usual training schedule from January 2. http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/dec30j.html | |

possible return of our beloved 4-4-2? I hope so! From what I've read and seen on youtube Escudero is a very technical play, very fast, with a good shot, a natural left footer. He could become our new left winger with Meghni as an alternative. Foggia could play on the right wing and we could get Dessena (Sampdoria) as back up. When we need to play more offensively we use Foggia, if not then Dessena. In this case we would need to get rid of one too many central midfielders cuz we would be using just two in the middle. A 4-4-2 would also mean using two strikers, not three. In this case I would sell Rocchi (to Sampdoria???) and use Pandev and Zarate up front with Foggia, Inzaghi and Mendicino as back ups. I got it all worked out!
