Foggia hopes for Lazio chance

Talented winger Pasquale Foggia has returned to Lazio after a season on loan with Cagliari and the player’s agent expects him to get a starting shirt.

Last season was a revelatory campaign for Foggia, who shone in Sardinia sufficiently to earn an Azzurri call-up.

The 25-year-old is hoping to get a chance to prove his worth in the capital, but some sources suggest he could be loaned out again.

“Foggia wants to stay at Lazio,” representative Tiberio Cavalleri insisted to Noiaquilebiancocelesti.com.

“I haven’t had any contact from the club and so I think the pre-season camp can begin in peace.

“I hope that Foggia will have the chance to play and show his value, given that in Italy there are few players like him sitting on the bench.”

The Biancocelesti are close to securing the signature of Argentine youngster Mauro Zarate, who is currently playing in Qatar.

“Lazio have lots of offensive options? We will see who will play,” Cavalleri continued.

“Mauro Zarate is a good player, but he is quite brittle physically and could have trouble in Italy.”

Zarate? brittle?

hmmm...I disagree, I think he's quite strong, considering the EPL is the most physical league in the world and considering how well he played there, I would say someone is talking utter rubbish.

Serie A sides get second foreigner

The Federal Council has given the green light for Italian sides to have more than one non-EU player in their squad.

Italian clubs have struggled to compete with their European neighbours in recent years, as they have been allowed no more than one player with non-EU status.

In Spain, clubs may have three and in France four, whereas the Bundesliga demands that German sides have at least eight homegrown players in their squad.

The change in Italy could render Serie A sides more active in the market and could see new players become targets.

“The law has passed,” explained Italian Coaches Association head Renzo Ulivieri [pictured]. “New talent can now arrive in Italy to reinforce our squads.”

For 2008-09, the rule will apply to Serie A sides who have “the possibility of signing two non-EU players where at least one is to replace a non-EU player who has become a free agent or moved abroad.”

Seem that Lotito has chosen Andrea Iaconi for replace Sabatini.

We don't need of Dainelli, he is 29 and in the last season he don't play in Fiorentina even Prandelli prefer move Jorgensen as defender right instead of put him in centre so...isn't so good and now we have 8-9 defender centre.
I hope thet Lotito will accept money so... we can buy a reserve of De Silvestri that in squad we haven't.

Although Zauri has put in good service for us, baring last season but given that could well be due to injury, i think we couldn't have the left back position covered any better. I think his time has past, take the money.

on piazzadellaliberta i read something of a possible exchange with udine concerning pinzi, we'd have to give them stendardo, IMO thats a great deal, stendardo is obviously not going to be in rossi's plans next year as he is keen on signing moti from the bucarest club, and pinzi is a great versatile midfielder to have. this whole 2 eu players thing, i am against, as i stated earlier i want to see way more italians being incorperated into every team, its called the ITALIAN serie A for a reason.

Dainelli would be a great signing. remember we need extra strength in centre of defence. do you want to play another season with Cribari, Siviglia, Stendardo and Rozehnal??

after that sign the laziale Maurizio Domizzi and I believe we have a side that can finish top 5.
