Anybody can struggle. Many sides outside the Top 4 are better placed for an assault now.
What Liverpool ran into today was a backlash. Early days.

Ohh what a game. It was a real derby. Few broken heads, some really bad fouls.
Bred Friedel with his form last few years is on the top 10 Gk in the world list for me. Real sportsman.

Liverpool next have:
Bolton Away Burnley Home West Ham Away
If they really have title aspirations, they must get 9 points here, and to be fair not the hardest 3 games in the world.

Up The Villa! Haven't won there for many many years, great to finally do it at such an unexpected time. Two defeats for Liverpool, they really can't afford more, certainly before Christmas.

I don't think Liverpool will struggle to make the top 4 this season. They haven't started the season off well however.
Although Liverpool lost to Aston Villa I don't think they played that badly. They had more chances - but just didn't take them. Before Lucas's unfortunate own goal they were creating more and controlling the ball well, and if it wasn't for Friedel or Villa's impressive defending, then they might have had the lead going into half time. The 2nd goal was the blow and even though the second half was pretty much the same with Liverpool creating chance after chance, no luck was on their side that day.
The EPL looks more balanced this season - at least in the early stages of the campaign. Its nice to seeing Tottenham playing very well, as are City. Even the 'relegation' contenders are fairing pretty decently with Burnley getting that brilliant win over United last week and Hull not making life easy for Chelsea on the opening day.

Expected but extremely shocking
The street brawls are like a scene from the 80s.

Scummy Chelsea c**ts. Score on the stroke of half-time. 1-0 up to Burnley, Anelka.
The report that if Mutu fails to pay up by Monday, he will be forced to retire from football by way of a FIFA Ban. Makes me sick.

I just read about that. What a joke. Surely it won't happen, will it!!??
Btw, how long has Mutu had to pay the 17 million Euros off?

He has until Monday.
Hopefully the appeal system will reward him with the justice he deserves.
Hoping it wont mean a ban though.

Luka Modric got what appeared as a nasty knock to his calf, turned out to be a broken fibula, and will be out of action for at least 3 months.
Massive blow for Tottenham and an even harder blow for Croatia's chances of reaching the cup in SA.

Effectively, yes. They can sign players as far as I am aware but they can't play for Chelsea until January 2011.

That has to be the most sever ban I've ever seen. Wonder how they will cope with that.

Not well I imagine, considering how quickly that squad is ageing. They have been pushing their luck with the authorities for too long. I am just startled that FIFA have actually said enough is enough.

But as Sile pointed out, Chelsea will surely appeal to FIFA and we all know that they are pushovers.
