That really sucks. I hope its because of an injury - but it seems unlikely. I want this guy to be given a fair chance at Lazio. Before his arguments with Rossi he was doing very well for us. Not the fastest, but solid and pretty reliable, as well as having a good aerial ability. Maybe not always a starter but a good option to have on the bench. | |

And the dissidenti. I think it's clear that De Silvestri, Ledesma, Pandev and Stendardo's Lazio careers are over. The big question is, why are they still on the payroll? The talks I mentioned last week regarding Simplicio and Palermo have resulted in Fabio refusing to extend his contract it seems. Simplicio will now be available at a relatively small price and this is our chance to take him. | |

| Bologna interested in Firmani.
Juventus are again interested in De Silvestri and are willing to pay around 7 million for him.
Palermo will try again to sign Pandev.
Gimnasia midfielder Rinaudo (21) is being tracked by Lazio, Parma and Napoli but wants to remain in Argentina. | |

No club will pay more then 3 - 3,5mil euro for De Silvestri. He didn´t play in the u21 EC. He´s valued at 3,2mil euro at transfermarkt.de | |

| Uruguay'n Media indicate that he will sign for Fiorentina.
How ever, TMW and Corriere dello sport say that we are closer.
Its 50/50 now, edging in the Viola's faver.
They are close to signing Eduordo Salvio from Lanus, hopefully this will distract them a little.
But if he does go to the Viola We absolutley must sell De Silvestri to Milan and not them | |

| Yea, big problems if we miss out on Lugano. I really hope Lotito does everything possible to sign him. Give the agent a nice cut, whatever.
There is no chance we can get another CB of this quality by the start of the season, and Cribari just isn't good enough.
Not to mention Fiorentina are a direct rival of ours for European places, and happen to share the same weaknesses in central defence.
DAJE LOTI'. This is crunch time of the mercato.
I just also want to express my disappointment that Fabio Firmani will once again be leaving us. In our 110th anniversary I find it a disgrace that there will be no lazialita' representing la maglia on the field, and for all his injury troubles, Fabietto really is a decent footballer. | |

| I will agree on the Firmani point but I think some fringe players have been left out to attract bids. I can't be certain they will be leaving.
As for Lugano, I'm still not fussed. We really need a centre-back and I'm convinced we will get one but Diego is not my man. As for Simplicio, it has been a summer of mind games but Palermo are not being linked to our players for no reason. They need to sell Simplicio pronto and they know we need to sell our guys so naturally, they are looking for a nice exchange.
I'm 99% certain Simplicio will happen, I just don't know under what terms. | |

- U-21: Italy lose Russian roulette Wednesday 12 August, 2009
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alberto Paloschi gave Italy the lead in Russia, but the Under-21 side fell to a 3-2 defeat in today’s friendly.
Pierluigi Casiraghi tested out new faces in St Petersburg with the final match before the European Championship qualifiers.
Milan-owned Davide Di Gennaro was given a new Andrea Pirlo-style role in front of the defence, but struggled to settle down.
There was bad news for full-back Lorenzo De Silvestri, who sustained a knee injury just seven minutes in.
Parma striker Paloschi had given Italy the half-time lead away from home, pouncing on a misunderstanding between Denisov and goalkeeper Pesyakov.
However, six minutes after the restart Russia equalised through Smolov, who was allowed to cut in from the left and fire a low drive into the far corner.
Mamaev converted a dubious penalty 12 minutes later when Gagatov made the most of the slightest contact with Mustacchio.
Despite Russia going down to 10 men from the 73rd for Mamaev’s terrible challenge on Atalanta midfielder Tiboni, Salughin completed the rout.
It was Brescia defender Andrea Rispoli’s error that created that goal, though he made up for it in stoppages by nodding in a Mario Balotelli corner.
This was the start of a new two-year cycle for the Under-21 squad and many players were making their debuts.
The European Under-21 Championship qualifiers open on September 4 against Wales.
Russia 3-2 Italy Scorers: Paloschi 38 (I), Smolov 51 (R), Mamaev pen 63 (R), Salughin 90 (R), Rispoli 92 (I) Sent off: Mamaev 73 (R) Hopefully its not that serious and doesn't damper any of our transfer plans! Anyone know how serious this is? | |

| Bolatti played 66 minutes in the 3-2 friendly win against Russia.
Was his debut.
Was unable to get himself into the game, a few passes and one weak effort on goal, was basically all he had to show for himself. | |

First of all, I'm pretty sure I didn't write that sentence; I don't think I ever mentioned his weight Just joking, I think Simplicio has been on the cards for quite a while. We have said we are interested, Palermo have said we are interested, Simplicio is refusing to sign a contract, ex-player of Ballardini, the kind of midfielder we need, Palermo talking up 6million or Radu for him; there's just many clues and indicators that it has become too hard to ignore. - c.testa wrote:

If I thought we would be keeping all centrebacks who are currently here, I would say just leave the defence as it is, take the best two, work on that partnership day in, night out and reevaluate in January. However, with Stendardo frozen out and Siviglia ageing rapidly, we could do with another defender but it all depends on the plan. Diakite' and Radu are still 3-4 years from being good enough in my opinion but if we don't play them, they may never make the step up so for me, it's more delicate than just saying "let's bring in Lugano." Candidates for me should have been Talamonti (because he's solid, provides a threat from set-pieces, would combine well with the players we have here, has Serie A experience, knows the club), Portanova (competent defender, experienced, probably in peak condition) and players like Coda/Canini who could be the future of Italian defenders and are probably still relatively cheap at present. By the time we pay Lugano's agent and the player's signing on fee, it would become an expensive enough transfer that nobody has the details of and we could probably bring in quite a few decent defenders on the same price. | |

| Yea, a deal that will see us get 10 million euro.
I'm happy to see Goran get his wish and leave for a better place...sorry, bigger paycheck, but usually when you play hardball, you see the transfer fee rise, not drop. Assuming this is all true, Lotito has lost 5 million euro by playing the market.
Really nailbiting stuff on Lugano. Can't agree that we keep the current defence cause IMO they've shown that they're either too inexperienced (Diakite, Radu), too old (Siviglia) or not good enough to start (Cribari, Stendardo). Someone new needs to come in, someone with the personality to LEAD the backline and a national team captain is just that man.
also heard Lotito wants to go for Sporting Braga defender Alberto Rodriguez. Another CB who plays internationally for Peru, but I've never heard of him or seen him play. Another Lotito-special IMO, cheap unknown who steps in. Assuming this is due to us missing out on Bengtsson.
that would see us have a CB team of - Diakite, Radu, Rodriguez, Siviglia, Lugano. Good mix of experience, strength, pace and youth.
...
also, this will make a few people's day .... Bologna want Christian Manfredini and Makinwa's agent is trying to get him a deal at Siena. Fingers crossed. | |

| According to Tuttomercatoweb he will choose us, with Lotito meeting his agent today for the final and most desicive meeting. It say's he will reject Arsenal & Fiorentina. They offered more money, but we have offered a longer contract. Muslera has convinced him to come. Also Meghni spoke to him about the club in last nights friendly between Algeria and Uruguay. Finally he likes our ambition and was impressed with our win over Inter. Fingers Crossed. | |
