Now three months later after the rough play-offs, Anderlecht and Standard met again, in game 5 op the League Sunday evening.
The whole week there was a large tension between both top teams, because of the play-offs, giving Standard the benefit of CL and Anderlecht (losing against Lyon heavily) a line in the EL.
The "Golden Boot Boy" Witsel (20 years) kicked Polish international Wasilewski out for the season and the whole year. Witsel got redcarded, and the rest of the game was like a bad trip, ending in a 1-1 score.
Every media (papers/tv/internetforums) was shocked by this, was it on purpose or not? Because 3 years ago, Wasil did a Karate-Kid-like kick on Witsel's back, he still has scars of this, and last year Wasil voluntary elbowed some Standard players out of the game.
Some media says that in maffia-style Standard had still an 'open account' on Wasilewski, about the past, and maybe Witsel didn't on on purpose, but due his anger and fury he just lost control those 3 seconds.
Wasilewski had a double-open leg fracture, and won't be kicking a ball for 12 months.
Witsel will know today what his punishement will be, he will get some several weeks, not playing in the League, but able to play in the CL against Standard, and as an international against Spain later this week.
Some say he should be punished for life, others say he can't play till Wasil is back on the field. But 1 thing is sure, this 'talent' of 20 years won't be the same boy again. And today he already recieved death threats by email, giving him already police protection 48 h later.
Even Standard captain Defour has recieved death threats, because of minimalising the tackle.
Now Witsel will undergo his punishment, and some say it's better now to leave Belgium and try to find footballjoy elsewhere in Europe, because several big teams are already scouting him for the future.
... will be continued ...

Great player, one shouldn't be misled by the tackle.

Tremendous talent, I wouldn't read too much into the tackle, it all happened very quickly and he could easily have been looking for somewhere to place his foot so he could block the ball. The imposed ban is ridiculous.
Hopefully the Polish player recovers quickly. Horrible injury.

I just hope the polish player, Wasilewski, now understands how much harm you can do to a player if you play agressively. Like he does more or less every game. Well at least he won't be doing that anymore for a while...

Horrible tackle .. It reminds me of the game between China and France when Cisse's foot was broken in a similar way.
Witsel is a great talent and if he doesn't leave Belgium he won't be able to show what he can really do ..

The funny thing is, a few days before the game against Standard, Wasyl said in the media: " Football is not for girls, you can always get some injuries! ".
Wasyl is the most agressive player of the Jupiler League, so I don't care about his broken leg. He just desirves it.
Byebye, Wasyl!

Anyway his ban has now been lowered to 8 games, and the CL ban is also cancelled, so Witsel can only play now in the CL the next months, and with Standard's Reserves

Anyone got proper info on Romelu Lukaku?
Just seen a few reports and some statistics, and to say he is hot property is probably the understatement of the decade.
16 years old, 6 Foot 3 & 1/2. Great goal return.

Very powerfull player with a good technique and a nose for goals, same type as Didier Drogba. Chelsea offered €15 million for him, but he want to stay in Anderlecht for a few years. He's one of the biggest rising talents in Belgium, together with Mats Rits from G. Beerschot.

Already scored 8 goals this season in the comp. and isn't even a full member of the first team. The first time i saw him play i thought man that kid isn't 16!Every big club in europe is intrested from man u to barca

He used to play in the youth teams of my favourit and local club. I saw him play when he was like 13 years old. Already back then you could see he was a bit bigger than his teammates. But the way he changed the last couple of years, incredible...
