Well it doesn't matter really coz Rossi may stay few more years. As far as I'm concerned, it's now more likely that Rossi will leave, because apparently he hasn't reached an agreement with Lotito. I am certain that Zenga will be a step forward for Lazio's future. Let's wait & see.

| It never even crossed my mind, but Terim is wonderful manager. I loved the way Turkey played their football in the euro 2008 cup. The man is a tactician with so much experience.
I would love to see him and is perfect replacement for Rossi. I hope this is true with real leads rather than pie in the sky,
Any real sources anywhere else to confirm this?

Not a bad move. I second that. I don't want Rossi to go, and especially for the names Lazio have been linked with so far - but Fatih Terim. That would be impressive. He did poorly at Milan though, but with the Turkish NT at Euro 2008 he worked wonders.

| Coach
After he left New England Revolution, Zenga retired from active football, choosing to pursue a coaching career. After a short stint with Milan amateurs Brera Calcio, Zenga moved to Romania in 2002, first managing Naţional Bucharest and then Steaua Bucharest. In the summer of 2005, after being fired from Steaua before the end of the season, Zenga joined Red Star Belgrade, leading the Serbian team to a double (national league and national cup in Serbia & Montenegro). In the 2006 summer, Zenga was called to coach Turkish side Gaziantepspor; however, after a poor beginning (5 wins in 17 league matches), he resigned in January 2007 in order to accept an offer from United Arab Emirates club Al-Ain FC. After just 5 months in charge Al-Ain sacked Zenga, who was announced in September 2007 as new Dinamo Bucharest coach, replacing Mircea Rednic, but resigning only two months later following a 1–0 loss in a local derby lost to Steaua.[1] He then accepted a job as football commentator and pundit for Italian public broadcasting service RAI.
On April 1, 2008 he agreed to replace resigning boss Silvio Baldini as manager of Catania.[2][3] He made his Serie A debut on April 6 with a crush 3–0 home win to Napoli,[4] leading them to a dramatic relegation escape during the final minutes of the league, after a 1–1 home draw against AS Roma.
Confirmed at the helm of Catania for the 2008–09 season, Zenga proved to be fit for the Italian top flight, leading the rossoazzurri to impressive results in the early part of the season, and agreeing a one-year contract extension with the Sicilian club.[3]
Catania's playing style under Walter Zenga has being made famous due to the coach's care for free kick schemes; his assistant manager Gianni Vio is known to work exclusively on this particular side of football tactics during the weekly training sessions.[5]

| First of all, people are ONLY excited because it's a new coach and not Rossi - should this happen.
Zenga is nothing special in my book. He's not my first choice, but F it...he's available right?
He has been unsuccessful more times than successful.
He was best know for what he did with Red Star and saving Catania (who are below Lazio and fell apart during this season). That's it.
Folks, he's not Sir Alex, so lets not pretend he's a great coach. Rossi's record is better than Zenga's.
Walter Zenga, in a somewhat surprise appointment (at least due to Zenga's lack of expertise at the Serie A level), took over Catania. Despite this, Zenga managed to lead the rossazzurri off the relegation zone, saving his side from falling down to Serie B in a heated final week game, a 1–1 home tie to Roma, with an equaliser goal scored by Jorge Andrés Martínez at the 85th minute. Zenga was successively confirmed in charge of the team for the upcoming 2008–09 season.
Catania finished below us, btw.
Zenga, is not the answer, but should he succeed Rossi, I will support him as I will support ANY coach at Lazio.

| I think people like big names, and Zenga was a big name in football. I dont know who will be the next manager for lazio but I would prefer Diego or Terim. hmm what happened to Zico? Was'nt he linked to us last year. Well when Lotito decides that Rossi and lazio will part company, then I am sure we will have good 1-2month to find a decent coach. Lots of people will jump up with the opportunity of coaching lazio. They are still a big club with big ambition and not only that ,,,,,... damn it, look at the players. Some are rising stars. Arsene Wenger? We need to find someone like Arsene who can keep to a budget and find young stars with talent and hone them. Hopefully we will make good revenues and someone like Arsene or wanabe Arsene can bring us lots of money!! | |

Hopefully we will make good revenues and someone like Arsene or wanabe Arsene can bring us lots of money!! What you are saying is true, about the timescale though, I want a replacement to be found asap. It will give him time to scout players before the transfer market opens so we can act fast when it does. We always get left behind.

| Well, one thing is certain in my book. We need to decide ASAP on our coach for next season. Assuming it's not Rossi, our coach needs to get to know our players on the pitch AND determine what he thinks our strengths and weaknesses are. This can't wait all summer. Not with us playing in Europe. So, Lotito better have his guy in mind and bring him in. We HAVE to have chemistry between our manager and our players. | |

| If Delio Rossi leaves we should get a young coach who's good with young players as well. My first choice would be Diego Simeone, Del Neri. | |

Del Neri is fallen coach with old Chievo glory and Diego has already signed a new contract to San Lorenzo.

| http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2009/05/29/1292895/my-dream-is-to-coach-inter-catania-boss-walter-zengaThe only interesting part I want to highlight in the article above is that it says that he has been offered 500k/season. That is what Rossi has had as well, right? If Lotito is determined to not pay more than that, the likes of Zenga is what we will manage to attract. The fact that he wants to use Lazio as only gaining experience is understandable, with 500k/season we will not attract anything else than managers who are looking for more experience, and later joining a larger club...it seems Rossi is having other thoughts though, since he has been ready to extend... My opinion is that it might give a few positive boosts to have Zenga, but at the same time I feel Rossi is more qualified than Zenga. Catania was impressive during earlier parts of this season, while Catania have had a hard time performing since it was confirmed that they will not be relegated this season. What does that tell me? Well, Zenga might have the character to boost a team, given his time as a player, but in a longer run he might be having the same problem as many other ex-players that turned in to coach - to make the locker room "his" and to make sure the players follow all through a long season. I am still not sure if i want Rossi to leave...I cant come up with a good and realistic name to replace him. Could it be Zenga? | |

| As a coach I think Zenga is good, one of the rising Italian tacticians of the time, and he seems to control his players well. Different style to Rossi, not as direct and attacking but more disciplined. Very few Italian sides do well when they have nothing to pay for. I think with Zenga we can get good results.
The problem is that he is intent on reaching the Inter job and its obvious that is his mission in his career. You see once he managed a decent finish with Catania and got some respect in Serie A, he ditched them to take up a role with a bigger club, presumably we are that club, or one of the interested ones. So if he does well with us, makes the CL or wins another Coppa for example, he'll then not even hesitate to leave us like he did to Catania. For a long term project, this isn't good enough.

| For me, I don't see any reason why we should go for Zenga, Catania has lost 18 times (compares to Lazio 17 times) this season, they did have a good run, especially against big teams such as Lazio, roma, but his records isn't so much better than Rossi..
IMO, Zenga isn't the right man for Lazio, apart from his personal wish to coach Inter one day, I don't see him as a better replacement than Rossi. We can't just change the coach because we don't like Rossi, changing coach is a very easy thing to do, but finding the right person (who could put up with Lotito is a very hard thing to find).
Zenga's style of coaching reminds me more of Lazio Zoff's on mid 1990's, too much draw, and little goals, tight defending, although I would like to see result more than entertainment (goals), but I would prefer to see Lazio playing attracting football than a boring one
