Transfers and rumours 08 09 section 3

Two signings in one day if the rumours are to be believed.

As I said in the past, we spent our budget and the sale of Rozehnal facilitates a move for Cruz and Bengtsson. In essence, we can sign Julio on a one-year deal and keep the Swede at the club for 5 years solely on the money Hamburg have provided and thus, I think Lotito has swooped quickly to make this happen. Of course, it's not official yet so we shouldn't jump the gun.

However, it explains why Cruz hasn't joined anyone; he was waiting for Pandev to move OR the money to become available to facilitate this move. If I am right, he was probably reassured that he would be signed. Bengtsson has been bubbling under for ages.

I will add one thing. Lotito admitted about a month ago that Simplicio could move to Lazio; I believe he is still on our radar. The signing of a young, 23 year-old centre back is not to replace Rozehnal. David was signed to replace Stendardo after the Rossi fall out and now the Czech has left, I believe Stenny will take back his role (if we do sell him or Cribari then Lugano steps into their shoes). Bengtsson's signing suggests to me that either Radu or Diakite are on their way out and considering we want Simplcio and Zamp wants Radu, there may well be something to that rumour. There is nothing to suggest Mobido will go.

Why would we bring in Simplicio? I got a gut feeling that Dabo will go and the Supercoppa may well be his swansong. Not only that but I don't oppose the Radu/Simplicio swap. We didn't pay much for the Romanian and despite his versatility he has been outshone by Kolarov at left-back and clearly Rossi never thought that much of him as a centre-back. He never made the breakthrough and his mentality is quite poor in my opinion. I think Ballardini may well turn Bengtsson into something special (if Kjaer is anything to go by) and we could really do with a playmaker who can take the pressure off Ledesma and stay fit for the whole season. I'd be in full support of a swap.

Zamparini has been talking quite openly about the sale of Simplicio to Lazio. I remember him saying that some Turkish and Russian clubs want Simplicio and are willing to offer a nice sum but that he would more than willing to negotiate with Lotito.

Palermo need a central defender and it seems that Radu is their preferred choice. Sabatini knows him well and Zenga coached him in Romania.

I was really impressed by Radu when he came to Italy. He adapted very quickly and you could see that he has a lot of qualities and is a versatile defender. As time passed Kolarov took his place and we didn't see Radu much. I agree with you Caxi that Bengtsson is the ready made replacement for Radu and him signing for us doesn't mean we are not still in the hunt for Lugano.

Although I believe that Radu could develop into a very good defender I would take the offer of getting Simplicio in exchange for Radu. In a 4-4-2 formation we would have a very dynamic midfield in Foggia - Matuzalem - Simplicio - Eliseu.

Goal.com say the transfer is worth only 400.000 euros which is good news. This guy (Bengtsson) looks quite good (1.86 cm) and is also young and I hope he will be a good transfer for the club.

Simplicio is one of the few midfielders in serie A that as good or even better than ledesma...

we need improvement in the midfield, especially if ledesma goes somewhere else.. with simplicio we're gonna be a much better lazio than the last two season...

I like Radu very much... but I won't put him as a starter for now...

so, we need simplicio more than we need Radu...



If the simplicio deal happens, Cruz+Bengtsson are official and a good defender such as lugano joins us, I'm gonna be very optimistic for the upcoming season...

Cruz for Pandev
Bengtsson for Radu
Simplicio for Ledesma
Lugano for Rozehnal

a balance or even better replacements, plus the money we should get from the selling of ledesma and pandev won't be used at all

I don´t think that Simplicio is coming for Ledesma. I think that Simplicio is coming and he will be playing with Ledesma.

In my opinion Ledesma will stay at Lazio.

In the end it could be like this:

Muslera

Lichti - Lugano (or another new one) - Bengtsson/Diakite/Stendardo - Kolarov

Simplicio - Matuzalem

Zarate - Ledesma - Foggia

Cruz


a defensiv middlefield with Simplicio and Matu would be great. Ledesma would have enough space for his creative playing. This would be the best 11 of our team.


EDIT: So, I read that Ledesma, Pandev and De Silvestri maybe will stay at home and don´t make the trip to china. So you can be right that Simplicio is coming FOR Ledesma. I prefer that they play together.

cruz its good signin(he is 34 but one or two year he can play),maybe i was prefered some younger but lets start changing something,i think he ciould be better in dou with mauro thn tomaso(rocchi-zarate partnership did nt work),i m glad that cruz refused a lot of teams just to join us(roma,napoli,athletico...)and he teach our stars that we are not a little club(he come to us from the champions team).If we also get simplicio and lugano than we will have a great team.We will have brochi-mauri-meghni as a subs in the middle,stendardo-diakite-de silvestri(if he stay-defense),capitano-attack

I hope some of our swede friends can comment on Bengtsson. I'm also voting for a swap between Radu and Simplicio. A mid line of Ledesma Simplicio and Matuzalem should rock..

Rasmus Bengtsson will come witha pretty big reputation, although if possible I would stil like to see Lugano come.

Cruz signing is good, more or less means Pandev is on his way soon. Zenit back in for him I believe.

Well, following the Swedish league, I can say that Bengtsson is worth what Lotito payed for him, not more not less, but I would rather have seen him play regular in a bigger league than Allsvenskan and smaller league than Serie A, this was a huge step for him as normally Swedes go to Eredevisie first and make their breakthrough there before joining bigger leagues, he is far from best defender in Sweden though was one of the rocks in U-21 championship. He is still young and who knows maybe Ballardini can make something there. He plays in a small club in a small league and I can count atleast 6-7 better defenders from Sweden, maybe not for that price/age though. He has three sixes like the devil as he was born 26/6 1986, and he was raised in Malmö FF, normally very good youthsystem who plants many more nationalplayers in Sweden than other clubs, such as Zlatan and Marcus Rosenberg. Bengtsson was attracting many clubs in Europe and I guess maybe Lotito brought him more as an economical investment rather than sportive.

We where saluted for playing fantastic football and the season before last everyone talked about positive Lazio and last season after the first 10 games we where a top team.

I don't think anyone is questioning the success Rossi had with Lazio ( I mean Coppa Italia, because 10th place is a failure), but also everyone knows that it was the right time for Rossi to quit the job. I think this should be the end of the story

Actually Rossi is a piece of smelling as ( excuse me if i sound offensive and irrespectable) he never respected the likes of stendardo , mutarelli mudingayi baronio and others although these players played with passion and gave their all to the jersey ! and he sticked to Ledesma all the time when he flopped ! he sticked to Mauri when he flopped and to Siviglia , he treated CRIBARI UNFAIRLY when he did a small mistake ( i forgot against whom , but it was actually Ledesma's mistake)... now that's a crappy person.
