Can't say I'm surprised. Bohemians are fast becoming the dominant team in Ireland and with a kind draw, they have a real shout. I'm glad someone else is following their progress because I think this could be a big year for Irish League football.

Marc Janko missed a penalty for Salzburg!

Glentoran on the other hand, stuffed by Maccabi Haifa 6-0

Not surprised at that either tongue

Even 2-1 would have been a top result for Bohs. Now we've gone professional, this league is going to produce some top teams and I reckon within the next ten years, Ireland will be one of the top 10 teams in world soccer.

The fact our part-time GAA players can go over to Australia and fight the Aussie rules guys shows that we have the talent to become a great sporting nation. We've shown it in the rugby and many other sports besides.

We'll have a team in the Champions League groups very soon and dare I say it, maybe even this season...

Crappy league. What more to say?

Anyways, does the departure of Kalmar (I am sure they will ave a very hard time turings things around despite them thinking they have a decent chance to pull through) mean that they will enter the Europa League qualifications instead? I really hope Lazio get drawn against a Swedish team, now that Djurgårn isnt in it...

No, they must lose in the third qualifing round (second now) to enter Europa League instead. Anyway, I'd like to see Kalmar go through beacuase if they reach the play off round their home game will be played in my town since Kalmar's arena doesn't reach the UEFA standards...

Horrible draw for the big teams!

Great for Bohemians though, should they progress, Dinamo Zagreb will probably await and we will finally have a good shout of getting a team into the CL.

They're still underdogs but it's a winnable draw.

Despite its critics, the international rules is always a top contest IMO.

Definitely. Ireland and Australia have roughly the same amount of victories too.

I think it's foolish to write off Irish League football. You only have to look at what else we have done in sport recently.

Winner of the last International Rules.
Qualified for the last Cricket WC, beat Pakistan and progressed.
Won the 6 Nations in rugby beating Scotland, England, Wales, France and Italy to win the Triple Crown and Grand Slam.
Padraig Harrington won 3 golfing majors in the last 2 years.
We have a champion or two in boxing again.
One of, if not the leading nation in horse racing.
Had the world No.1 female rider in Equestrian.
Then add our amateur sports such as gaelic and hurling and our achievements in football.

For a nation of 5 million, most of whom like a few too many pints, it's pretty impressive, especially considering there is no facilities for any of these sports in my area and many others beside.

Bohemians reaching the Champions League would cap off a top year in sport for us. It's a dream, but I honestly believe we will get a team there sooner or later. Don't forget, UEFA have changed the draw to give countries like us an advantagge.

Thats true and smaller teams can reach the CL group stage easier but if I have to be honest Bohemians can't reach the groups. I'm pretty sure that they don't have what it takes to beat a team like Dinamo Zagreb. Bulgarian teams also haven't got big chances even for the Liga Europa groups because they aren't in good form and play really bad football in the moment.

I dont want to get too carried away, but the home leg for Bohemians against Salzburg is going to be so crucial, extremley tough game, with Salzburg aware of the mistakes they made in the first leg.

If Salzburg score 2+, then the game for me is over.

Bohemians need to score first, playing a defensive game would be suicide.

So not even going to bother thinking of Dinamo Zagreb (Argubley an easier game) until the 2nd leg is finished.

How many times have Dinamo Zagreb actually qualified for the CL? Twice if I'm correct, 10 years ago and once they were in a group with Sturm Graz and came last...I think Austria is the better league and I think Red Bull Salzburg are the better side. I think both sides are better than Bohemians but these are two well established teams from two professional leagues. Bohemians have only been fully professional for a year.

This is a great chance for all three clubs, put my bias aside and say it's a cracking draw. If I remember correctly, Pyunik still have a fighting chance against Dynamo too.

Dinamo had a hard time away to Pjunik, they defended well, tonight it's going to be tough because of the fans' "behavior" the game will be played at an empty stadium.

generally speaking, Pjunik is no match for Dinamo, but Red Bull or Bohemians could prove a very very difficult task to overcome.
