All 3 of the local team's lost.

But talk about complete humiliation for the Scotish Game:

Motherwell 0 - 1 Llanelli

If Motherwell dont over-turn that, then the reputation of the SPL will hit an all time low.

Llanelli didnt even win the Welsh League.

Our local sides got tough draws. I thought Derry City had a chance of going somewhere but even they have a stinking draw.

Skonto Riga 1 - 1 Derry City

Very good result against a decent team at this level.

Motherwell lost 1-0 to an Albanian team (Cant remember the name) away.

Excellent result for Derry cheers

Ok, they're my team's archrivals but they are my only chance of seeing Lazio without any hassle. Plus, my neighbour's cousin plays for them so it's a nice result for the community.

Hopefully they can take that back to the Brandywell and scrape through.

Now up to St. Pat's against Valletta at home.

A win here which is expected, but you never know, would complete a great week for Irish football in Europe.

CSKA Sofia - Skonto Riga/Derry City = Extremley difficult tie, should Derry progress.

St Pat's Athletic/Valetta - Kryla Sovetov (Jan Koller's team) = Again very tough.

That is a difficult tie. Bulgarian stadiums can be very difficult to play in.

CSKA Sofia are a good team - not as good as Levski Sofia though (my home team Very Happy ), but they have a talented squad and some very experienced members. They have also achieved some memorable results in European competition over the last few years so should benefit from that and might progress further than most expect them to.

Even though the 2 teams are each others biggest rivals in Bulgaria (some say the biggest derby in Eastern Europe - don't know how true this is), I still want Bulgarian teams to do well in Europe so will half-heartedly support them - a bit like Caxi supporting Derry City in such a tie..... Very Happy

Exactly like me supporting Derry City.

Derry have the European pedigree to at least challenge CSKA but to progress, a goal in Bulgaria is pivotal and that's going to be tough.

Sovetov should have enough for St. Pat's unfortunately...

Valletta 0-1 St. Patricks (1-2 on Agg)

Yes, great turn around for St Pat's. Next up Kryla Sovetov in the 3rd round.

Now just up to Derry City to finish the job later on at home to Skonto Riga.

Nice, professional result from St. Pat's. Shouldn't have found themselves in that position but they did the job. Sovetov will probably be a step too far for them though.

I have high hopes for Derry City; I expect them to win tonight and give CSKA a run for their money in the next round. Still hoping for a Lazio - Derry City tie cheers

Quality of football doesn't really matter to me; I like goals.

Derry City 1-0 Skonto Riga

To be expected, makes two good results for us tonight. Skonto are no mugs either.

Yep.

Anorthosis, Aalborg, Rosenborg and Falkirk all eliminated by minnows. The first three sides would have been a threat to Lazio, the latter must be so embarrassed at losing to Vaduz.

The only reason Falkirk are in it is because they managed to fluke their way to the final of the Scottish Cup. They are easily the worst team in the league and were all but relegated last season.

But come on, the best player in the Vaduz team (by a mile might I add) is Burgmeier who struggled at Darlington! Twisted Evil

I know Falkirk are bad and it was never going to be a classic encounter, but Vaduz are basically part-timers if they aren't actually part-timers.

Cherno More vs PSV Eindhoven.
CSKA Sofia vs Derry City.

Both Bulgarian teams have a fair chance of progressing but it won't be easy. PSV are surely the favourites in that encounter - but I'm hopeful the sea side team can cause the Dutch problems. Should be a tight affair.
