| Makinwa has found little space in the Lazio attack this season, as the spots have usually been filled by star strikers Mauro Zarate, Goran Pandev and captain Tommaso Rocchi.
The Nigeria native had become unsettled at the Biancocelesti due to his lack of playing time, and he had handed in a transfer request, with hopes that a suitor would come to his rescue.
Promoted side Chievo have done just that, expressing an interest in his services for quite some time, before snapping up his signature today in an attempt to bolster their attack for rest of the Serie A season.
The Flying Donkeys announced his capture on loan from Lazio on their website, and Makinwa is expected to be unveiled to the press shortly.
The 25-year-old has realised his wish to leave Lazio during the current transfer period, and now it is up to him to prove that the capital club have let go of a talented star.

| A good move for both player and club.... all the best at Chievo Makinwa and hopefully he rediscovers some of his old form there! | |

| A loan is better than nothing, but I would have been happier if some team came around and cashed for him. Woul dprobably never happen, as he has not had a good game for ages... | |

| Gastòn Cellerino is pure gold. He has all the potential to become the second Zarate...but it brings a question: since we have Zarate, Rocchi, Pandev, Simone...will he be just a sub? or will one leave? or will we not sign Zarate after all? | |

Obviously it would be impossible for him to come in straight in to the starting lineup ahead of ZaPaRo. Since Makinwa left and Simone is hardly an inspiring player it's good to have another option on the bench. No idea of Cellerino though, anyone seen him play? I'm wouldn't be sure he's "pure gold" yet. After all, he's never played in Europe (Zarate did before coming to us), and had been playing in the not too glamourous Peru, Uruguay and Chile leagues.

| If its really true then I welcome Cellerino to Lazio but until its official and on the Lazio site then I am not completely convinced that he has joined.
I don't know much about the guy but he is young and has done well in Chile so that is promising. What about the EU spots? How does all this work out if it is indeed true?

| Biancocelesti grab Cellerino Thursday 22 January, 2009 Lazio have increased their contingent of Argentine strikers, as Mauro Zarate is soon to be joined by 22-year-old Gaston Andres Javier Cellerino. The deal is set to be announced officially on Friday, but newspapers in Italy and South America maintain the contracts have been agreed. Tall and powerful centre-forward Cellerino will arrive from Chilean club Rangers Talca on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season for a pre-agreed £2m. He has an Italian passport and is a product of the Boca Juniors youth academy, going on to score 22 goals in 35 games for Rangers Talca. It is believed Cellerino will act as an heir to Tommaso Rocchi in the Lazio trident attack, fitting in well with Zarate and Goran Pandev. http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jan22v.htmlSweet! | |

Is an early welcome in order? I'm really suspicious when reading "official" news on the net Now this news is all over the place. That is a signing made without anyone hearing anything about it, impressive if he turns out to be "pure gold" as someone put it. Saw some clips (not really informative nor saying anything about his quality), and he seem to be the kind of player that taps in the ball - a kind of player that would sit perfectly with ZaPa. Guess he will not be stepping straight in to the XI, but it gives us another dimension. This will however mean that we must get Simone out, and that rumours around Rocchi leaving will become even more frequented. Fairly cheap, so it can be a good purchase. Just hope this has nothing to do with lotito being to cheap to sign Maurito... He does hold an Italian passport, for those wondering... He has been in the Chilean league, right? Any of the South American friends familiar with this guy? mafalda maybe...? Only imagine if we would not get Simone to leave on a permanent basis...we would have quite a few attackers in the squad during the summer...hmm... Guess the management is building up a squad able to compete in two competitions next year (avoiding another European disaster...), meaning we have to reach Europe to be able to justify holding on to players that other clubs might be interested in. Nice to see some moves made, even though the attackers were not really the area we needed to strengthen. I was hoping for a game or two for our own products, like Mendicino, but I guess lotito wanted differently... Maybe tomorrow could bring us a midfielder and a ´defender...players never heard of...

| Wow, Lotito certainly likes more orgies hmm I mean Argies in our squad, don't we have too many already? Back to topic, anyone knows how good Cellerino is? I read from WIKI, he's about 185cm, so he's quite tall for a centre forward, and has Lotito been watching youtube again?? | |

| I feel it's an interesting signing that Cellerino guy. I mean, he hasn't played in Europe yet but Argentinians can adapt very quickly to Italian football... And it's not like he is just one more, cause his playing style seems to be different from Zarate/Pandev/Foggia. He is more like a 6-yard-box striker... Anyway, lets see... | |

| In shorter comments Lotito is saying that nothing is yet decided when it comes to Cellerino. Once again media, and some of us, are jumping to conclusions...
Samp interested in bringing on Zauri on a permanent deal...
Belleri seem to be set for Bologna...they are becoming Lazio-B...but nothing is decided yet...

Belleri seem to be set for Bologna...they are becoming Lazio-B...but nothing is decided yet... Its not official but must be close. Channel4 dont usually report on things unless there's some truth to it. Goal.com on the other hand... Sell Zauri if the offer comes up. We could use him at LB but everyone knows he can't come back to Lazio with the dressing room trouble. I've heard Fiorentina dont want to make the loan permanent either. If they do, I say we sign Pasqual from them in exchange. Bologna have a real Lazio flavour. Can't say any of those ex-Lazio players would make our starting 11 though, except Di Vaio.

out: Zauri, Makinwa, Belleri, Mutarelli in: Cellerino
if we manage to sell/loan also Manfredini, I would say it is a very good mercato...

| so Gaston Cellerino is in Italia finalising his papers to receive his Italian passport. There's also something about signing him permanently straight away and loaning him to Livorno for the rest of the season. Serie B experience would be good for him but I cant understand that Lotito is in talks with Torino president Urbino Cairo for the transfer of Zauri. Fiorentina still interested in Rocchi. Selling him would be a disgrace IMO. Form is temporary, you dont sell a captain and the heart of the side. | |
