| Zarate is the 21 year-old striker then.
Yes, I saw him play for Birmingham City during the second half of last season, thought he did really well, 4 goals in 14 games is a great record for such a young striker in the english league.
great acquisition if it happens.

| I don't know what to say, I watched some videos for him on the youtube and it seems that he is a great talent! Serie A is totally different than Qatar's League and EPL!? If it is true, I am curious to see what kind of player he will become under Rossi supervision!?
As for Dessena, he is another great talent and I wish to see the "UFFICALIE" word for him or even I still prefer Claudio Marchisio over him, this guy is Alesso Tachinardi hire but undoubtly with much more gifted skills.

| From what i could make out we will sign him on loan for the season for 3m Euros, with the option of signing half of his contract for 5.5m Euros at the end of the season. And we can pay another 8.5m Euros the following yr to purchase him outright. So overall he would cost us 17m Euros, which will be paid in 3 years.
If someone can correct me, feel free to do so.

hmmm...it's difficult to say what level he is at, but he is a tremendous talent, arguably more suited to Serie A than the EPL. He is a good all round player, there's not much he can't do. Strong and powerful like Pandev, good box player, fairly quick, very difficult to compare him to anyone. He will definitely play in front of Pandev and Rocchi in a 3-4-2-1 or 4-3-2-1.

| how certain is this deal though? I know Portsmouth are chasing him and they can certainly offer a lot more money.
it also seems that the Amoruso deal will not go through if we purchase Zarate.

| The latest on PdL is that Lotito has said nothing has been signed yet, and we are looking at two other options. I assume one is Palacio... | |

| One thing, the deal is 17 million spread over 3 years: -3 million for 1 year loan -5.5 million for 50% of Zarate if after one year we decide to buy -8.5 million after another year
It's a quite good deal actually for a player valued around 20 million euro.

| Zarate is already a LAzio player I think. If so, this is a great purchase, this guy can score with both left and right. good with headers too, ideal striker.
So this now means palacio is not comming, to be honest im ok with zarate, hes only 21 and very talented

| wikipedia may say Zarate is on loan to Lazio, but it also says Amoruso is a Lazio player and it is clear he is not.
to be honest, if we have Zarate, forget Palacio, they were joint top-scorers in the argentine league in 2006, both around the same price, but crucially, Zarate is 5 years younger. Pandev, Rocchi, Zarate and Makinwa with Tare as 5th choice striker is a lovely line up for me.
I think Zarate is potentially better than Salas. He's got more to his game, but I do see a few similarities.

| I'm in full support of Lotito's transfers normally, he knows how much we can spend and it has always been spent quite wisely. For me, this is most definitely a one-year deal at the moment, but if does turn into a long-term thing, with the price mentioned, yes, it will affect future mercatos. To be honest, I could see a place in Europe being the key to, not only Rossi's survival as manager, but Zarate's survival as a Lazio player. | |

| I think it will depend on the player performance something that Bianchi failed to prove his worth last season, not to forget that it also depend on our league position and if we qualify to a European competitons or not.
i still think Lotito will sign Amoruso as a reliable back up for the Zarate or even Serie B strker, but what I am confident about is that Lotito withdrawed from Palacio, and both Malinwa and Tare are not any more needed.

| I think, Makinwa and Tare to stay and Inzaghi and Vignaroli to go if we manage to bring in Zarate and another young serie B striker. | |
